Freckles!!!

K, so i have freckles and I HATE them! A friend told me that they may become less visible if I stay out of the sun or apply sun block 1/2 an hour before sun exposure, but I really couldn’t be bothered if it isn’t gonna do much and I love the sun! Does anyone know if it will help?

Step 1: Learn to love them because they’re not going anywhere. They will fade as you get older but that’s it. Once they’re there, they’re there.

Step 2: If you would like to prevent more freckles from appearing wear a facial sunscreen on your face and neck and a body sunscreen on your arms, legs and other exposed areas. This will prevent more freckles from appearing and also protect you from harmful UV rays.

Step 3: If you would like to cover them you will need a good, light weight, full coverage foundation. Bare in mind though that with the exception of studio make-up, no foundation is going to cover freckles completely but you can help them blend in with your skin tone. I use Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation and it works well. For a higher coverage you can try Vichy Dermablend foundation. This is a little heavier so start with small amounts.

Step 4: Embrace them. I don’t know how old you are but I spent my whole childhood/teenage life hating my freckles. It wasn’t until I was backstage at a fashion show and saw all these make up artists DRAWING freckles onto models that I actually started thinking differently about them. Freckles are not a bad thing, no one looks at you and thinks ‘oh, she has freckles’ and if they do, it’s most likely from admiration.

Love and appreciate your skin and all your freckles. You have the honour of carrying them with you forever.

I also have freckles and have learned that we are all beautiful in so many different ways and the thing that makes us most unique is what makes us different and beautiful.
For myself I avoid staying in the sun too long as i end up suffering terribly for it even when i use sun cream.
I’d recommend limiting your time in the sun, use sun cream and believe that your beautiful xx

I have just grown to embrace my freckles. My only concern is that I’m getting them on my arms, even though I’m wearing sunscreen or wearing a long sleeved top.

Gotta agree with you here, oztag! I used to hate my freckles, but now I have no idea how I’d look without them. I’ve learnt to love my freckles. 🙂

I’ve known some people who got their freckles lasered away, and a few of them have had problems with it. One person got their freckles removed, but the laser burnt their skin or something and left a dark patch on their skin.

I have a lot of freckles especially on my face. I guess you just learn to embrace them. Trust me, I’ve tried most of the products that say they’ll get rid of them but they didn’t work for me. Who honestly cares if you have freckles on your face? It makes you look different and sometimes unique 🙂 If you’re really worried about getting more freckles, try to avoid going into the sun during midday, wear sunscreen and buy a nice hat to wear when you’re going out during the day.

Does anyone know if any of those skin whitening products work to lighten freckles? specifically Clinique’s Dark spot correctors & SK11’s skin whitening products??

I’ve tried Clinique’s Dark Spot Corrector and it did zilch. When I read the actual instructions/information it actually states that it doesn’t work on freckles, which was kind of interesting, as that is what I had imagined it was meant for. It seems to be aimed at “age spots”.

I’ve used them all over the years, they have a very minor effect for a very short amount of time. The better one that I have tried was Clinique’s ‘Even Better’ range of skin lighteners. But they still didn’t make a very noticeable difference and the results didn’t last.

If you do want to cover up, your best way is foundation.
