For me what works every single time I get the flu is to take echinacea either in tablet form or in liquid – both you can buy from your local chemist or woolworths.
Personally I think that the liquid form is better. All you have to do is get some boiling water, put around 3-4 drops of echinacea, a teaspoon of honey, a teaspoon (or more) of chopped ginger and some lemon juice if you have some handy. Mix it all together and drink it while it is still very hot.
This little mix sorts my flu super fast every time and I must admit that it does not taste too bad either, hope that it helps you too and let me know if you try it 🙂

Here is a link to an article about the benefits of chicken soup plus a recipe. There are simpler chicken soup recipes that are less complicated – so many of the net.

    Hi guys,

One of the most important things for the flu is NOT to get rid of your fever, it its the bodys way of killing the infection!
This is were broths, chilli, garlic comes in… heat the body… a sauna is also perfect.
Garlic is also anti-viral which is amazing for cold and flu, either crush a whole garlic clove and mix with honey, down the hatch!
    Supplement form is great too.

Vitamin C and Zinc are key immune nutrients, a product i love is called –
Ethical nutrients zinc fix – 1 teaspoon morning and night (with food!) for the acute period, then ease to one dose daily.

Tea is also amazing, hence the warming effect, you can brew your own with a chunk of ginger, chilli, garlic, lemon juice and honey in a cup of warm water.
Health food shops also sell YEP tea, the best for colds! 3 cups daily.

REST! the most important.. and fluids.

    Hope you feel better!

I feel for you! I’ve just been through a horrible cold/flu type thing. Well I still have it but I’m improving now after a week of hell. Although mine was not as bad as yours as I could still eat and I didn’t cough until the last few days. I think the cough is a good thing for me as it’s all coming up. It’s good you are coughing it up though as not coughing it up is a bad thing, it’s better out than in!

I know you can’t really eat but if you can try then Shull suggest garlic and I found it really did help me. I made up a garlic bread with over the top amount of garlic on it. If you can get garlic into you somehow then try that. I also drank lot’s of hot black tea with heaps of lemon juice and a little bit of apple cider vinegar.

So sorry to hear that you have been ill for so long now. Bed rest is very important and if you have a fever you need to take panadol or something similar which also helps reduce pain in the body. Plenty of fluids is key – lots and lots of water with lemon juice for goodness and to help it taste better! Eating is not a major issue at this point except have some chicken soup which has been scientifically proven to assist with colds and flu. You also get some protein and nourishment which will help you. You can also add some ginger to the soup as well. Antibiotics often make you nauseous and is probably the reason you can’t keep food down. Hope you get well real soon and that the swap we are doing will cheer you up. x
