Filling not fattening!

Hi ladies!

Lately I have been feeling very hungry (no I’m not pregnant!) and I am wondering what would be some good foods to eat that are filling but not fattening. I eat high fiber and high protein foods but I am still hungry. Any ideas of how to fill up without fattening out?

🙂 xo

i find that eating oats every morning keeps me fuller for longer, also having an apple about mid morning instead on munching on snacks. and then between lunch and dinner ill drink plenty of water instead of snacking, or even having a nut bar, (anything with nuts, seeds, fruit) will keep me from snacking and is very filling (raw nuts are good for you… good fats) 🙂
just keep away from the chocolate and coffee and you should not snack on sugary treats between meals.

soups are proven to keep you fuller for longer. try making some homemade stock and throw in a few veggies. I love soup =) esp in winter !!

I would say that generally , fruit is a very good way to get filled up, coz it seems to sit in u for longer . and it also has natural sugars so it will squash the ned to eat or drink other things for a sugar hit.

i like eating any fruit i get my hands on, summer is so much better tho.

u can also nibble on the high fibre cereals, right fro mthe box 🙂

its been quiet lately across all of BH… maybe the winter hibernation mode is kicking in for ppl and so its kind of less active? lol

Strawberries, a handful of strawberries and you’ll feel like you’re bursting.
I have a handful of strawberries nearly everyday because I love them and I feel way too full afterwards!

LOW GI for sure…. that is the key as the slow release of energy keeps you going and feeling full.

One of my fave snacks at the moment (more like a mini meal that I have in the afternoon) is chopped up pears (into cubes) with two tables spoons of cottage cheese plus a sprinkling of either walnuts or almonds. This is a great combination of protein (the cottage cheese), low GI filling food with fibre (pear) and good fats (the nuts) that add up to complete satiety.

Steer clear of high sugar yogurts as although yoghurt is good they have a lot of hiden sugar. Nestle diet is a good range as they have less than 1% added sugar. Cant remember the brand but it’s green packaing called Forme or For Me, something like that – also has less than 1% added sugar. Pauls plain natural yoghurt is the best I can find with the least amount of sugar added…. mix in with some sunflower seeds/nuts – yum!

    it is yoplait forme

protein shakes ? they work for me…even if im watching tv and forget i drank it, i suddenly feel full within 20 mins.

otherwise, i like avocado on those Rye vita things.
    or hard boiled egg .

    otherwise, roasted almonds <3
cheese ? dairy is actually good for keeping the fat down,
because your body actually stores fat if its not getting enough ”good fats”

I agree that some fruits are more filling than others – especially apples and bananas. A small handful of nuts (raw almonds, brazil nuts, cashews) help me as well.

Muraljewel mentioned cinnamon which is also good for helping to reduce tummy fat. A teaspoon a day is recommended. I add it to my muesli or yoghurt which is also good to eat to feel fuller. At present I tend to have 4 small meals a day which I find suits me better and I very rarely feel hungry. x
