Fantail makeup brush

Hi Beauties

Americans often use a fantail makeup brush which are featured in many brush sets. I have one but do not know what to do with it, other than brushing away excess powder on my face.

Do you know what these brushes do and how to use them? Look forward to your tips.

xx

Thanks ladies for the great suggestions. I do like the idea of using it to apply a mask. Will check out the videos too – have learned a lot from watching some good instructive videos.

@Somethingforsam. I saw Koren do this at IMATS. Its a really interesting way to apply mascara. But you need one of the really small ones to do it.

I have seen it used for applying highlights to the cheeks etc… as well as obviously dusting away fallout. Overall I dont really use mine at all.

I’ve seen the small fantail brushes being used as a mascara wand. It was different but it looks useful for makeup artists to apply mascara on various clients. Wayne Goss on youtube made a video showing how to do just that.

I watched this video ages ago and I remember the makeup artist using the fantail brush to apply bronzer because it was great for light contouring.

    Natural and oh so nice

There are some good ideas on what to do with them here. Thankyou beauties. Mine gets mostly neglected – I’ve only used it once or twice to carefully remove ‘fallen’ eyeshadow from my cheekbones.

    Interesting thread!

I’ve never used one myself but I think that they have two uses:

    1. For the light application of blush and bronzers
    2. As a makeup removal brush for cases such as removing some eyeshadow that might have fallen onto your cheekbone with a light outward sweep

They are also good for applying masks

    Cheers
