Dress Me For The Ball.

Hi Ladies – I hope Someone can give me some Advice/opinion on this matter. My Boyfriend and I have been invited to a Formal Gala Ball and Charity Auction ,I’m all excited , but worried about what kind of Dress to wear. As I have only ever been to 2 Balls and they were when I done my Collage Deb when I was 16, and when my Girlfriends and I done our Adult Deb, 12 months ago, which was one of the most Romantic Nights I’ve ever had (But Thats Another Story). This is the first time they have had this Ball so I can not get any reference as to what Ladies wore Previous ! So Should I go for the Big Ball Gown , with Big Skirt , Satin Bodice , Gloves etc, etc, or Should I go with the Long Flowing Floor Length Satin Evening Dress with Jacket. I Love Both Styles but I don’t Know Which one to wear ???? Please Help – Deb xx

I think you will just have to go out and try a few dresses on to get the right colour/fit/style. You will know the right one when you put it on and go wow. It will just jump out at you. As for colours it depends on your complexion, hair, etc. I wouldnt wear white because it too bride/ deb looking but maybe you will find something that you never thought you would wear. There are some really beautiful colours around now. It just reminds me, when I got married for the second time I wore a skirt, top and jacket suit. It was beautiful and so comfortable and me. You wont believe that I wore black and I think I shocked some people but I only liked black and white and I wasnt wearing white again. A few years ago I attended a charity ball too and I wore it again and felt really comfortable. From memory I think thats what most ladies wore. Nobody wore actual ball gowns. Good luck with it and dont forget to post a pic for us on the OOTD page when you find your outifit.

I agree with the other girls about the long satin dress, sounds smart.

I went to acharity ball a few years back and can’t remember anyone being in big full skirts – they were mostly in long dresses though there were some that were shorter. I wore one that was just below my knees. I was worried I’d be under dressed but i actually got a few compliments froms trangers which was nice. I think the long flowing dress would be much more practical – the big skirt might get in the way.

I also think the floor length satin evening dress with a jacket sounds really nice. I wouldnt overdo it. You can keep it simple and still look really nice. Good luck with it.

I think personally simple is best:) I remember for my formal I had a long plunging neckline black gown with a statement necklance and curled my hair a simple statement ring and gold glitter gel nails I was complimented quite a fair bit!!

depending on what shape you have its great to research what dresses suit what body types

good luck and have fun!! xx
