Don’t go to the Cosmetic Counter without Me…

Hi beauties,

No, I don’t mean take me with you shopping…though I wouldn’t mind to, but I mean has anyone heard of this book? It’s by Paula Begoun. She’s been featured on Oprah multiple times and other US-based TV shows where she reveals the beauty industry secrets about make up products etc.

Lots of people swear by it and I’m tempted to purchase the book. But I’m a little unsure how applicable the book would be in Aust and whether it’s a good buy.

So has any of you lovely beauties come across it? If so, how did you find? Would you recommend it to others?

Thanks beauties,

I’ll checkout this book at Borders because its out on loan at my local library. I’ve heard good things about it like being informative and time saver. You don’t need to go online for most products as there are apparently covered in the book.

I agree with Nyxen, this book is absolutely the best! As soon as I bought it I went and looked up all the products I have and all the ones I want.. so informative, saves you heaps of money by reviewing all the products so you don’t end up buying something bad.. it reviews all the big brands and their products, the only thing I found was missing was Biotherm and Becca.
Try the website beautypedia.com (free access until the end of feb!) and that includes Becca.. go to the site first if you’re not sure!

I have this book and I loooove it. I do like books anyway but this has been very useful. There are some products that you think gee that sounds great! but if you check the book first it will let you know if the active ingredients are in good quantities, and if they are packaged in a stable way. I love getting new products but I don’t love getting ripped off so if the item doesn’t live up to its claims this book will tell you.I think it is a valuable addition to your own personal library and I must say that I have also looked up heaps of things for my friends too!!! Def buy it if you ask me:)

I got it from my local library. It’s really interesting, I only glanced through it because it was so big. It rates products, tells you what to buy, tell you what products are harmful for you skin etc. But in the end, products are all subjective.

Agree with Glamglee that you might want to have a look at it first. I know it is available at my local library, so you should be able to get it. It is a very large book and may not be that relevant for your needs. x

I have a similar book at home called something like The Handbag Beauty Bible UK publication. IMHO I get all the advise I need from BH, for on the run advice download the BH app for your iphone. Maybe see if your library has it so you can have a read of it first. Hope this helps??
