Does this bother anyone else?

I dont know if its just me, but this stuff really bothers me.

When someone gives a honest review, then that should be that, shouldn’t it?

Why do some company’s insist on passing the blame to the customer?

I thought the feedback from Simple was good, I’m not sure who it was aimed at but i did write in my review for the eyemakeup remover that it irritated my eyes. Their response indicated they were sorry for what had happened and they would take the feedback on board and were appreciative it was honest. This is the kind of feedback from a company which is good I think and even caring of them.
However I have seen the other ones which are not so nice and blame the customer for their bad skin type, lifestyle etc, rather than just accepting the criticism and taking it on board…. Which is what they should do considering most of the good quality reviews (which they are when its regarding a trialled item) are constructive in their criticism anyway, and they aren’t being overly negative and hateful towards the product, just honest.

It does bother me because that’s what reviews are for! It’s to get that cross section of people who have bought the product no matter good or bad, the end result is what’s gonna want to make you try it out. That’s why I always read up reviews on MUA and beautyheaven before buying stuff, I see one bad review and I think “what if that could be me?”

I love BH for the reason that if I’m thinking about buying a product, I come here first, read what you ladies have to say and then make up my mind. The point that we can make a non-bias review is what I love. No-one is getting paid to say what they’re saying, it’s honest and thoughtful opinions and that’s what I want to read.
The Simple rebuttal was fine, everything was explained in a friendly matter but the Formula rebuttal sounded so condescending and rude. If you’re a company and you want to have your say, learn some tact.

Rebuttal is fine but I don’t like condescending rebuttals from companies. I’m not just referring to Formula 10.0.6’s remarks but in general especially when people were just giving their honest experiences.

I’ve had bad experiences but I’ve also had good. Clinique, when they redid their formula sent me a product for free to try it and I’ve been buying it ever since.

I guess the upside to all this bullcrap is knowing which companies really care about their individual clients and not about only making money as I didn’t slam Clinique around messageboards or things I just emailed them so they didn’t need to ‘save face’ by doing that.

Did that make sense at all? Probably not. I just finished 6 hours of filming and doing special fx make up on 9 people. ahaha

I totally agree. It really annoys me, and half the time I have submitted reviews on beauty heaven about products that I haven’t liked and they haven’t been accepted?

Yeah I submitted a review and it was negative, never got approved even though it was my honest opinion. So we don’t get to see all the reveiws on here! That is really dodgy.

I dont understand why proper reviews would not get accepted, when one liners like I want to buy this do?
    Or even this one?
I havent used this yet I use the light one, but I read that this one got much better results than Estee Lauder and Clinque creams, so def worth a go!

The best thing about Beauty Heaven is being able to read real people’s experiences with different brands and products. It’s a real shame to learn that not all reviews, namely the negative ones, aren’t getting published.

Of course, sites like this couldn’t operate without advertising and sponsorship, and I think it’s okay for brand representatives to publish responses to negative feedback but there’s definitely a good & bad way for them to go about it. For example, the one from Simple (although confusing about who it’s aimed at) is pleasant and straight to the point. However the 10.0.6 one is quite bad. I don’t like that it listed ‘lifestyle choices’ as a possible reason for their product not working… what’s that supposed to mean?!

Leanne, thanks for the explanation. That is very helpful. x

    Hi there,
Just wanted to let you know that from beautyheaven’s point of view we publish all reviews. If a review gives indication of a bad product batch or allergic reaction we will invite the brand to respond as it’s in the best interest of consumers. On these occasions we’ll allow the brand 48hrs to respond before we publish the review.
If a review is negative for the sake of being negative and doesn’t really explain what the person didn’t like we will go back to the member and ask that they elaborate to make the review useful to other members. On every other occasion reviews are published as soon as we receive them.

    Thanks for all the feedback,
    Leanne x

Mmm.. I agree. I read a reply from a company last week about someone’s review and yes, they always make it to be the customer’s skin type, lifestyle choices, environment… blah blah.
I only buy beauty products that are for my skin type. So if something doesn’t work for me, I’ll be honest and put up a review that is the total truth. I think companies should do something if people aren’t satisfied with their products. If they just brush it off or say it’s the customers fault, then word will go around and the company will get a bad name.
I’m all for seeing the full ingredient list on all beauty products! It bugs me when they claim it’s ‘natural’ but you can’t see anything natural in the ingredient list except a whole list of chemicals, sulfates, parabens, etc. It’s all misleading and I just won’t buy from them.

Wondering if Yvette also got the same response that I did from Wella about this trial as I just noticed she had a similar review to mine???

It happened to me last year with the Clinique Redness Relief powder, I found it quite rude, as others have mentioned, everyone should be entitled to write and honest review, and both good and bad reviews should be published, its a shame when it doesn’t happen that way, as there has to be products that work wonders for some and not so good for others, gee if all products were good for everyone then it would be pretty much disastrous for the industry wouldn’t it, we could all use the same products and be done with it, haha.
In a trial just recently I gave the Wella System Professional Balance Scalp Shampoo only three stars but explained why in detail, thankfully it was published and just yesterday I got a response from them via email, I think that is more than acceptable and think that is how companies should react rather than belittling peoples reviews on the site, such as the one mentioned by the OP 🙂
