does hairspray really thin your hair

I use a lot of hairspray and i dont think that it thins your hair. But i agree with Dimples1 that its sticks your hair together and then it gets pulled out more. Also if you brush your hair while its got hairspray on if may snag and pull of extra hair.

My bestie says I lose a lot of hair. She knows this because I leave it on her bath room floor when I stay.
Now, I do use hairspray, and I think i have figured out the problem. Through the day we touch our hair, maybe run out flingers through, etc. I also leave my hairspray in from one day to the next, and restyle. So, I think that because the hair is kinda stuck together in places, it snags and pulls out of your head. I am going to be more careful in future!

Yeah I don`t think so.
I suppose overuse of any product will eventually cause some kind of damage but I don`t think it will make you go bald or anything 🙂

Hairspray is not going to thin hair. The only way it can be damaging is that as they`re often alcohol based they`re often drying on your hair – which can make it more prone to breaking if you don`t take care of it. Or if you brush your hair with hairspray in it because the hairspray makes the hair brittle – it can also break more easily.

Michy just a thought, most of your questions relate to thinning hair or hair loss, be careful darl this could be something more serious than just something that is caused from different hairsprays or shampoo and conditioners. Definately go and see a doctor or even a hairdresser as it seems you are very concerned about his issue and have started a number of threads relating to this dilemma. Let us know how you get on 🙂

Hey sweetness. I`m pretty sure it doesn`t thin your hair out. However, in saying that I suppose if you were using a really shoddy hairspray that sapped the moisture out of your hair I suppose it would become damaged and thus snap and break more easily.

But if you`re using a good product and looking after your hair, then no. You will not develop a radical rate of hair loss. he he.
