I`ve used the quick cleanse 15 day detox several times now, you can get this from any health food shop, it is Australian Owned and Made. I like to do it once a year in Spring, it is the same as what curlycee has recommended but you also take herbal tablets. I think it`s a great way to kick start your system after some of the bad habits I pick up in Winter.

I don`t believe detoxes work, and the only ones i really see around, are to lose a lot of wait in a short period of time. Which I think is the only real effect most of the detox treatments have, which in itself isn`t good because like Happychic said, you just put that wait back on just as quick.
But what you said Curly is true, if you really want to clean up your system, you have to change your dietary lifestyle and make permanent positive changes to eating diet and eating habits.

I think Dainap75 was referring to extreme detoxes where people just consume water and lemon or juice and powders and stuff.

Curlycee your idea of a detox isn`t really a detox, it`s just eating healthier in general and not cutting out all solid food and basically purging like a lot of people do for several days but then go back to the same diet as before. Why bother? I think your idea is the way to go.

What sort of detox are you talking about?
When patients come to see me wanting a detox, I usually suggest the following:
-1/2 lemon juiced in a glass of warm water in the morning
-cut out refined foods and sugars
    -eat more fruit and veg
    -cut out/reduce coffee and alcohol
    -drink more water
The `detox` process can also be supported by increasing in take of certain foods, and also by herbs and nutrients.
People want some whiz bang program, but I think the best thing is to just really clean up your diet.

I have tried a detox but a good friend who is a nutritionist as well as my GP have both told me if you eat well you don`t actually need to detox. Our organs do this for us. I`ve heard the Lemon Detox can be very harmful, yet it`s very popular. Yes it can be q uick fix but will not give you sustainable results. Happychic1 covered everything that is helpful. I think stay away from the detoxes, they can do more harm than good

Detoxes are no good for you. If your feeling a bit lethargic or sluggish it`s best just to change your life style a little bit. Cut out processed foods and opt for a high protein diet that will give you lots of energy and wholegrain carbs. As happy chic suggested antioxidants too- swap coffee for green tea or add cranberry or prune juice to your diet.

I`m not a fan of detoxes, I think they are unnecessary and can put strain on certain organs if you aren`t careful. I personally think that you are better off eating a healthy diet and possibly cutting out certain things to make you healthier overall. Most people do these strict detoxes and then just go back to overindulging again so why bother.

No they dont work infact studies show those on detox gain weight back quickly or actaully put weight on this is beacuase your system goes into a shock mode as it is unsure when it going to recieve its next meal and consequently your body slows the metabolism in order to store more fat for future energy use. Liver disfunction has also been observed in those who use detox. If you are feeling slugish and think you need a detox or some kind of pick me up I sugest you drink more water it does wonders for the excretory system, skin and mind. Maybe get your iron levels checked as low iron can sometimes lead to fatique, have more antioxidants (from green tea, rich berries gogi berry is great) and look at other ways of altering your diet and exercise routines.
    Hope this helps xox
