Detox Yourself

I was in Dymocks today checking out the health section and came across Jane Scrivner’s book “Detox Yourself”. It’s a very informative and detailed 30 day detox program – looked like an interesting challenge. I was just wondering if anyone has read or tried this out?
I’ve never done a detox before and am eager to try one to improve my health and eating habits, maybe shed a couple of kilos as well. Though detoxes are quite strict so I don’t know if I’m up for the challenge just yet… but it’ll be good to get as much information as I can beforehand.
Thanks!

Def valuable for learning healthy habits angelee – I just don`t agree with the really strict diets – cutting out too many food groups is just not good for you. Doing things like cutting out caffeine and processed foods can do wonders for you however.

    Thanks for the input ladies.
I do eat healthy normally, though once in a few weeks or so I`ll have a “”bad eating day”” and eat something like KFC lol. Perhaps I should just take some ideas from detox recipies (I haven`t really experimented with cooking a variety of things) so maybe that`d be the better option rather than going on a strict detox.
I agree Dimples, there`s just so much that can go on within the span on 30 days. So you`d really have to be committed.
Elmo, I understand what you mean. Maybe if you go back to eating normally after the detox program you haven`t really learnt anything from it? It interests me because I`d like to take up more healthier habits etc.

I don`t rate detox programs that much – it`s putting your body on such a restrictive diet, but only for a certain period of time? They`re not effective for weight loss either – coz although you may lose weight initially – as soon as you start eating normally again the weight will come back on. You can do your own detox without paying for expensive books/programs/supplements simply by upping your fruit/vegie intake and cutting out processed foods.

I have thought about it, but I can never find 30 days to set aside where there re no birthdays, parties, big nights out planned etc. Clearly, I just don`t want to do it THAT much!
There are side effects for some people, depending on how toxic your system is, you can get headaches and feel sick and stuff. I reckon it`d be worth it though.

I personally don`t think you can go past a healthy diet and exercise programme.
