Community service

Hello beauties(:

Well im in year11 this year and I have to complete 20hrs+ of community services by third term. We cant work for our families or friends, etc it has to be community related.
So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of places I can look into for voluntary work.
I’ve emailed this organisation thats helps homeless cats based in perth to see if they could do with some help from a full time student, so waiting to see what happens there. But if anyone could help me out with some suggestions, it would really be appreciated:) x

To bad about the homeless cats but working in the op shop should be good and it can be lots of fun when you are there with a friend 🙂

Shame about the cats beauty_muskin69 but the salvos should be good fun and if you can later the nursing home will be really appreciative of your help i’m sure. Best of luck with it all 🙂

Thanks girls for all your suggestions:)
Didnt have any luck with the homeless cats=( But mum works at a nursing home so I might look into that later this year but in the mean time me and a mate are going to help out at one of the Salvo stores, so should be good as we can turn up whenever we want.
    Thanks again! 🙂 xo

If your keen to volunteer with animals especially cats check if you have an animal welfare league in your area (usually listed in phone book) they may help, otherwise vets and RSPCA’s etc can point you in the right direction. Aged care is an area that often accepts volunteers, as does conservation agencies. There are some great ideas here, hope you find something that you are interested in.

I did some community work at my local nursing home a few years ago and it was really great. I also think that an op shop is a great suggestion or you could try meals on wheels. They are run by volunteers too. Maybe a centre for disabled people may be looking for some helpers too. Sometimes churches are looking for volunteers too or maybe a preschool. Good luck with it anyway and Im sure it will be a great experience for you.

    The Homeless cats sound great.

Working with kids with autism or providing respite to their carers?

I did some volunteering at the local op shop. They are always looking for people to help run their store (sorting out items people have generously donated), serving customers and dressing up dummies!

I also remember volunteering at the local child care centre when I was in high school. But you need to get a working with children’s check- which can be a little pricey.

I suggest you call your local council, they often have youth groups, that pair intellectually disabled kids with normal kids, and you get to do activities together. (eg watching a movie)

    Good luck
