Colouring Hair?

Hi ladies =)
So I have naturally black hair and have never had it coloured but i’m thinking about going alittle crazy and getting blue streaks. I have a couple of questions though.
~What sort of process is used to colour black hair?
~Will it be damaging?
~Will finding a salon that uses ammonia free colouring limit any possible damage?
~Does anyone know of any salons in Sydney that use O&M hair colour?
~What price range would i be looking at? I have hair that is getting pretty close to my waist line.
~How much blue could I get put in my hair before it looks abit over done.

Thanks.
xoxo

Mel – Thanks, I just wasn’t sure if there was an alternative as I’ve never had it done before, so I thought I’d ask. Thanks =)

Facialz – Thanks for telling me. I was abit worried it might damage my hair, but yours is still soft, thats great. Thanks =)

As long as you use a regular treatment or mask I am sure it will be fine darl, good luck 🙂

The bleaching was fine. It started working really quick but as my hair was so dark they had to leave it on for a while. It’s amazing how much it lightens up the hair. But it left it perfect to apply the colour I wanted and everything worked perfectly. They also said that now I’ve had it done, next time I need a colour, I won’t need bleaching. So it’s definately worth it. My hair feels soft too, not like the bleaching damaged it at all.

It won’t show up on your dark hair unless it is bleached first, I tried everything to get some purple streaks in my black hair years ago and nothing worked, I couldn’t get rid of the black at all, however seeing as you have not died your hair before it would bleach really well. I think this would be the only way though??

6-8 streaks sounds like a good number for a colour like blue =)
How did the bleaching affect your hair?

I just had my hair coloured on Tuesday. My hair was black (due to continuous colour build-up) and I wanted to go mahogany, deep red/brown. So they had to bleach the colour out of my hair before colouring. It took about 20-25 mins to bleach the colour out. Then they gave me an all over colour. My hair was lower back but I got it cut to halfway down back. It cost $190 all up. Don’t know if that helps at all.
I think if you wanted to give blue a try, you should maybe just do about 6-8 streaks and see how it goes, I wouldn’t go overboard with blue.
