Chemically Straightened Hair

I am thinking about getting my hair chemically straightened. What is the best product that should be used. I have very naturally curly hair, and when I straighten it, it tends to be a little frizzy sometime…. Will I still need to straighten with a straigtener every day or will blow wave take care of most of this. Any views with success or failure appreciated, do not want to aks a hairdresser for various reasons as they tend to always tell you the good, not the bad.

before you go jumping into it (if you haven`t already) you may want to check out curl talk at http://www.naturallycurly.com. There`s heaps of tips on how to look after your curls, as well as straightening board, and alot of people who are growing their curls back out.

I know right now getting your hair chemically straightened might seem like the best idea, but like style queen said it`s VERY damaging, it tends to leave your hair not only parched but loosens your curl pattern. So it`s something you want to have a good think about before diving into. Plus don`t forget re-growth and

in terms of frizz, the cuticles of curly hair don`t lie on flat curly hair like straight hair due to the shape of each strand (S – shape), this and heat damage is most probably the source of your frizz. A good moisturizing routine and some good curl friendly products would really help out (maybe even give the Curly Girl routine a shot?)

Personally I think your blessed to have gorgeous curls and that learning to love them and yourself for the way you are, is an important step to take. But of course it is your choice, and after all it`s only hair.

my sister has had her hair chemically straightened before and the first couple of times it worked really good. all she would do is wash her hair and then leave it to dry and it would be straight as, but then the last time she got it done it cost $300 and didnt do much at all and the worst thing was she ended up with all these broken off bits at the roots , like 2cm long.

Chemically straightening your hair can be great, and it will look awesome too. But it extremely bad for your hair and makes it unhealthy, granted using a normal straightener can damage your hair too but chemically getting it done is generally considered worse. but it lasts for ages and you only have to have it re done a few times a year. im not sure if you would have to straighten it after its done, but i am presuming you wouldnt really have to. But if you really want to do it, go for it. And you can always get treatments at the salon and stuff if its making your hair unhealthy and you need to make it healthier! and if its not for you just dont get it re done.
