Charities for beauty products

I would like to donate beauty products that I do not use, brand new, to charities that specifically support women. Interested to know whether anyone knows of any. I have contacted ‘Fitted for Work’ which helps women get back to work with business clothing donations and am waiting to see if they accept beauty donations. They are based in Victoria with an office in Sydney. Here is a link for anyone interested:

Otherwise, was wondering whether BH knows of any charities with its networks in the beauty business. If not, perhaps BH or an affiliate would like to start a beauty products charity.

Would welcome any thoughts, suggestions.

I have finally got my package of goodies organised to send to Fitted for Work. Plan to post them this week. Some other items will go to Vinnies or the Salvos.

I love the other suggestions as well and definitely will keep in mind the idea to give goodie bags to the Big Issue workers at Xmas time – fabulous work, Little Jo. I really admire you for doing that and hope to continue in your footpath as you are leaving our shores soon. x

Awww thanks so much Roxy! actually I am continuing my charity work in the UK! I have contacted the English charity ‘Give and Makeup’ I will be working with them when I arrive in London shortly, it’s an amazing charity that help out women and families in need particularly women that have suffered from domestic violence situations so for e.g. a box of hair dye may help a women conceal her identity. I’m looking forward to it so much and cannot wait to get started!

I love this idea Roxy, I think sometime very soon I will cull my swap list as many of the products have been on there for too long now and nobody wants them so I would rather donate them to a local charity than have to bin them especially the ones nearing the end of their expiry date. I think the cost of postage for me to send a stack of products down south someone would be really OTT considering its Aust Post, you would think that they could offer a free postal service for donated items for charities, that would be ideal 🙂

Mel, totally agree that it would be great if Aust Post offered such a service. I think it is a great idea to donate products that no one is interested in on the swap thread which led to my idea in the first place, lol! I was particularly interested in the Fitted for Work charity (they have an office in Sydney also) but there are so many other good causes. I am sure the Salvos and Vinnies would be pleased to have new products as well. x

This is a great idea Roxymisha! I was only thinking about the fitted for work one recently and couldn’t remember its name so reading this refreshed my memory 🙂 Glamglee I didn’t realise you morphed into Little Jo, good luck with your blog and move overseas 🙂

Hi Lina23! I’m Glamglee i’ve just changed my name to Little Jo to go with my new blog! the collection I did at Christmas was for giftbags for all the workers who sell the Big Issue in Brisbane, all went really well at the Big Issue office they had a big cooked breakfast for them and handed out the goody bags was lovely. Unfortunately I’m moving back overseas so I wont be able to collect any more products for charities. Hope you are well xox

For Brissie beauties – before Xmas GlamGlee was collecting beauty items to give to shelters etc. I don’t know if she’s still doing that, because she’s been very quiet on the forums lately. If you’re in Brissie, it might be worth contacting GlamGlee if you are looking to donate.
    Just another option.

I know there is an organisation that does makeovers for women with cancer, sorry i don’t know the name but maybe they would be interested ?

It’s Look Good.. Feel Better. They help women coping with the side-effects of chemotherapy for any form of cancer. I’m not sure whether their program is already sponsored by cosmetic companies or whether they accept donations, but their website is: http://www.lgfb.org.au

Women’s shelters are also another option.
