Blonde hair turned green!!!

My friends teenaged daughter has bleach blonde hair, she recently went soaking in a friends spa which had an overload of chlorine in it – she did try keeping her hair up and dry but the ends got dipped and have now turned green in colour. I’ve heard rinsing your hair with tomato juice will take the green out, is this true? Has anyone tried it?

if you have bleached hair or naturally blonde hair and turns green from swiming a cheap alternative to salon products is to buy a really cheap tomato sause (as it has the red food colouring) and mix it up with some water and a bit of conditioner then rince through the hair.

a good wash with dishwashing soap . also is a good tip if you home color and it turns out too dark .

Go the tomato sauce, a hairdresser I knew (platinum blond) swore by it. Also, combing conditioner through hair before you swim can help prevent, stops the chlorine from penetrating the hair as much.

Wateva she does, dont try to colour her hair to cover it up. Ive seen a girl that had blonde hair(not her natural colour) and it went green so she tried to colour it to disguise it but it went more green. She was so desparate and ended up at the hairdressers who then ended up colouring it brown and trimmed alot off because her hair was so dry and heaps of split ends.

you can buy hair products to stop your hair from going green but if it is already green i recommend washing it with tomato soup!

Yes Gabbi Girl, tomato sauce does work. Use a clarifying shampoo first (like the one glitter girl mentioned), to remove as much as possible, then rub tomato sauce only onto the area that is green and massage it in until the green has been neutralised. Its the same deal as removing yellow tones from blondes using purple tones, red neutralises green tones.

You can get a shampoo/conditioner by RPR called dechlorinate my hair – you could give that a go (it`s been reviewed too)

My sister has this problem with her blonde streaks when she goes swimming. She usually finds that after washing her hair with shampoo a couple of times it comes out.
