Birthday gift.

Hi beauties!
After being on beautyheaven for a couple of months now I’ve really grown to love the site! I think the rewards program is a really great way of rewarding all of us for our hard work 🙂 But I was just thinking maybe BH could do a birthday gift or something? Even if it was something nice and small as a little pick me up! If not that, maybe a christmas one instead? Just an idea!

Definitely for turquoise only, but it would have to be only be for active members, so many people get to turquoise and get their goodies and are never seen again, its always going to happen, but if there were some form of loyalty system where you had to contribute a certain amount each and every month of the year leading up to your birthday then you would be eligible for the gift??? And that means all forms of the site, not just submitting trial reviews, coz that is required anyway, you are already scoring free products to trial so you have to submit your reviews if you want to keep getting stuff to trial, but many of those members don’t comment on articles, submit reviews other than trial reviews or ever comment in the forum. This way if you choose not to participate then its up to you, but yeah if it were set up like a loyalty program for those who are turquoise it would be a nice incentive to keep the members active 🙂

Stacci I think that’s a great idea – Beauty Heaven Birthday Affiliates Program! Not sending out actual products on behalf of BH, rather discounts directly from companies. Although I can see how (with so many of us on with varying birthdays) they would have to reset codes daily to prevent people from buying heaps of things discounted when it’s not even their birthday! Maybe it could be something like a print-out coupon and you have to show some ID as proof of your birthday?
As far as birthday gifts go from BH, I think it is a nice idea but with so many members (even turquoise) it would be hard to keep up, and those of us that are already on turquoise get heaps of lovely trials to keep up satisfied!

Basically, how Illamasqua done it, is they sent it to you on your birthday and it expired in a certain amount of days and could only be used once per paypal/credit card so maybe they could do it that way?? I don’t know.

Some kind of affiliate program might work better than BH taking up their time but it’d have to be planned. Usually I’m a good planner but it’s a rainy day and I’ve got 2 annoying little huskies who won’t go to sleep right now. hehe

I think the coupon would be a much more suitable idea. Not every single turquoise member does become a part of the trial team though, I have come across lots of other members (like myself) on turquoise who have not, I’ve also seen lots of people in purple and red status who have been trialing products, but hopefully my time will come soon!

It’s a great suggestion and I’d be all for it but it’s probably not practical for a website of this size. I mean, they giveaway free trials, prizes all the time etc and they have to maintain PR and all that ‘lovely’ jazz that goes along with having this kind of website and there are jerks out there that like to ‘fudge’ the system.

So yeah, although I love the idea I also have to vote on the practical side and say it probably wouldn’t work.

What MAY work is that the product companies that we’re reviewing and talking about could give US birthday presents via ways of discounts on their sites, kind of like a ‘Beauty Heaven Birthday Affiliates program’ that way all the responsibility doesn’t fall on beautyheaven.com.au as they have enough work already but on those that we’re actually helping by promoting and giving opinions about their products and sometimes persuading people to buy it. I think an affiliates program is a great idea but it’s not original. Illamasqua gave me a 10% discount on their website for my birthday. hehe

Definitely agree with the turquoise or even gold status (of course that are still being active) because yes you probably would get a lot of people abusing the system, which is sad but it’s true!

Could be a good perk for people who have over 1000 loyalty status and regularly (at least once a week) post/comment on the site.

I think this idea could be good as an added incentive for members to continue being active contributors. Perhaps only turquoise members that have done a currently active in reviewing etc?

Oh that would be nice but faaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr to many members, maybe if they just did it for the active members or something, and had certain terms that you had to abide by, like so much contributing each month to be included, but so many of the members that make up all the numbers on this site are mostly inactive, other than the odd trial review here and there.
