Also, if you have a return ticket in the city you can use it more then once when you get on and off city stations.

If I have to go to the Sydney CBD, I always go by train. One thing I really like is that the train ticket is to “”city””. You can exit from any station in the CBD and enter any station in the CBD. You don`t have to go back to the one you got off at.

Train is by far the easiest way to get to sydney and around. Once you are off the train basically everything is in walking distance. I reccommend going to Darling Harbour, and eatting at the Lindt Cafe drools

You see the reason I am asking is because I have been given holidays at work and I wanted to go to sydney but I cant drive and live an hour and a half away I want to do something for my holidays not waste them but because I am not over 18 I can`t stay anywhere by myslef can I?
I don`t think so so I was thinking about catching the train up there everyday.

Another helpful site is http://www.131500.info , you just put in where you`re coming from, where you want to go and when you want to be there by, and it tells you about buses, trains and ferries 🙂

As for getting to Sydney, if you live in Melbourne (I`m not sure about other cities because I`m originally from Melbourne), the train can be lovely (and pretty reasonable), for my last trip home I caught the train, took about 11 hours but was nice scenery and nice and calm. If you do catch a plane, there`s a train station at both Domestic and International airports that go to the city, public transport is pretty good up here, I know some people have problems but I`ve never had one 🙂 enjoy your holiday!

Hi Hannah28, i travel to sydney by train (from suburbs around Wollongong) and its really easy to get to the city centre via train to central station and then trains from there to the other sydney suburbs. Depending on where in Sydney you want to go your best to hop on a connecting train at central or a bus which leave outside Central station regulary to all suburbs in all directions. Theres even a free green bus (no ticket or fare needed) that does a lap of sydney from Central station (across the road called Eddy Ave) and goes around the city down to circular quay and back up to central. This site http://www.sydneybuses.info/ is great at helping plan how to get around it has a section where you can type in where you are heading from and going to and will give you the bus route no, time & place it leaves, maps the trip etc. The buses that run in the city centre need a prepaid ticket to get on if its weekdays & peak time (eg 7am onwards) but you can buy them at newsagents, conveniance stores theres a list on thsydney bus website that will explain more) Hope this helps a little & makes some sense! I`ll be offline for a couple days (unfortunately) but am happy to give you more precise info if you know where in Sydney you want to head to and where you are coming from. Also the train timetables, & train lines info etc are available at http://www.cityrail.info Good luck & hope you have a great holiday if I don`t chat with you before you head off 🙂
