Best skincare book ever – must read!

Skin Type Solutions by Dr Leslie Baumann. I cannot recommend this book enough! If you haven’t read it, I really encourage you to. She is a cosmetic dermatologist and goes into great depth to determine what skin type people have. Instead of just the usual skin types she goes further into pigmentation, propensity to wrinkle, sensitivity, resistance to damage and stuff like that. There is an extensive quiz at the front and she allots you into one of 16 skin types, and prescribes exactly what skin products you should use (you can choose from several, from cheap products to expensive.) She tells you what ingredients to avoid and which to look for based on your skin type. Its also has lifestyle advice such as supplements and sun protection for your specific skin type. A great book for anyone who wants to help prevent ageing, cure skin problems or just know what products they should be using!

I`m a ORNT – this book is fantastic. I am a chemist and this book should be read by everyone that buys skincare

Just bought this book today and found it really interesting. I am a ORPW. Now have to look at product suggestions and see if anything I already have might work. Those who have read the book, what type are you?

I`m not sure about the Wrinkles/Tight Section, because I am a teenager so those things haven`t come yet.

No way, don`t clean out your cupboard totally! Be logical. 🙂

The idea is to check the ingredients list of products you have and products you intend to buy in the future. Not to totally overhaul everything, even though sometimes it`s nice to be able to do that. LOL.

So you just have to be vigilant and check the ingredients of everything. With different products from the same brand, there could be case where one works for you but not the rest. Don`t assume everything in the same brand is good just because one of the products works fo you, it`s all based on which ingredients work better for your skin type. I find this approach works for me. 🙂

Thanks music ,,, i was just about to clean out my cupboard .

  • 16 yrs, 1 mth ago

Thanks for pointing that out music. I`ve found that most of what I`ve bought suits my skintype. I`m glad I didn`t have to totally clear everything out and start again.

Ahhh.. that`s a bit sneaky. Thanks music :o)

Just to let everyone know, don`t take the product recommendations at Skin Type Solution book without checking the ingredients as I`ve heard reports about contradictions in advice (e.g. product containing things that are on the list as not suitable for your skin type) as J&J is one of the sponsors for the book.
