Best moisturiser for men? Sensitive skin..

Hey BH, I need your help please..
My dear friend Ben is in need of a really good moisturiser, and general advice about skin care. He’s in his mid 20s and has always had oily skin but recently it’s become very sensitive with the occassional break out. It’s not classic combination skin (as in oily t-zone, dry cheeks) but he does get both dry flakiness and pimples.
I’ve been trying to find something for him but men’s products are just so limited! Every brand seems to have a one size fits all range for men..?
If anyone has ideas about a great moisturiser, or a whole skin care routine I’d be so grateful 🙂 Natural products would be prefered, but not essential – he just wants whatever works best. Also he doesn’t care if his skin care is a simple or a complicated routine, as long as it works.
Thanks everyone, and thanks from Ben 🙂

Nivea protective moisturiser! Makes the skin super soft, and has SPF in it which is great!

I use (and LOVE) the clean and clear essentials moisturiser. its so so good I`ve been using it for years. keeps my skin clear and flake free. whenever i don`t use it i find my self breaking out in small areas so it really works!

Avene and La Roche Posay do good moisturisers for sensitive and acne prone skin. Also, a gentle cleanser, that doesn`t irritate his skin. If he`s using a harsh cleanser, that could be one of the reasons his skin has become more reactive.

I have believed that nivea skin cream is the best skin moisturiser for anyone. Even for sensitive skin as it is mild cream and not harsh. You must try it.

My partner sounds similar to Ben, Sneaky. He has some oily skin and some flaky skin. We both use the dermalogica range, as advised by a dermalogica BT. His happens to be: special cleansing gel, multiactive toner, active moist, SPF booster, concealing spot treatment. But Ben may need something specific for his sensitivity. I can`t recommend the dermalogica shaving range highly enough – it`s magnificent. Can particularly recommend the shave scrub, pre-shave guard (an emulsifier), soothing shaving cream, and post-shave balm. Although my partner doesn`t have sensitive skin, he does react badly to shaving with ingrown hairs, razor rash on his neck area. This range has really helped him keep in under control (if only he could control himself from picking, then his skin would probably be even better!!!)
Ben sounds like he does take good care of his skin, but my trick if you have a stubborn male friend is to be them a voucher for a dermalogica facial (or whatever you`re preferred brand is) I have done this to 4 different male friends and they all LOVED the facial experience, being pampered (by a girl usually!!) is not common for guys but they enjoy it as much as the girls. I know with the dermalogica facial, it starts with a complete skin consultation, so they`ll recieve recommendations and advice on what products from the range will suit their skin condition. Great service! If you go to dermalogica website you can find salons in your area.
No, I don`t work for dermalogica 🙂 I`ve just been using it for over 2 years and I just love it!

For some reason, I can`t post this in the previous message.

    • Saw Palmetto. I`d recommend this to any male. It regulates DHT, the radical form of testosterone mostly responsible for male pattern baldness, excessive body hair and benign prostate enlargement. In my case, I had dry hair with an oily scalp for 20+ years and the Saw Palmetto seems to have fixed the scalp oiliness, meaning that I don`t have to wash my hair as often.

GB, I have oily skin with very large pores. Your hubby might need different if his skin is different…

    I`m currently using:

    • a Biore cleanser. Nothing special, but seems to do the job. I might try something different next time.
    • Nivea Young Gentle Cleanser. In spite of being labelled “”young””, I`ve found that this is a very good mild toner for my sensitive skin.
    • Nivea Visage DNAge eye, night and day creams. I really like the eye cream, as it`s reduced my undereye circles in spite of chronic lack of sleep.
    • Loreal Refinish. I really like this, but I have been too tired to use it lately. Used twice a week, it really helps to refine skin texture.
    • NSW Cancer Council brand SPF 30+ sunscreen. I`ve never had a breakout using this brand.
    • Blackmores Radiance. Skin health from the inside. I really think this stuff works well.

There are probably more that I`ve forgotten about.

Thank you so much AliceJane, that is awesome advice! It will help a lot.
I better say this as I sent Ben the link to read … he takes MUCH better care of his skin than the average male.. he`s just unsure what to do now since his skin has changed. Had to defend the boy lol 🙂
