Hi everyone, I`m looking at doing a Certificate II in Retail Makeup and Skincare from the Academy of Makeup here in Brisbane. They recommend the Gorgeous Cosmetics brush roll which runs for $220, and I can get Sigma or Furless and a number of other brands for much less (and I trust their quality). Can anyone please recommend me a good brush set for this particular certificate or a makeup-related course in general? Thanks!

Did you ladies end up going into beauty schools? How did it go? Please share your experiences because I`m also interested. 🙂 Thanks in advance!

Oh and quite coincidentally I just got an invitation to The Academy of Make Up`s open day in the mail. Just to remind you all – this is the academy that works with Gorgeous Cosmetics.
Tour the academy, meet the trainers, view student work, watch and participate in demonstrations, ask questions etc.
Melbourne: Sat Dec 13th 1-2pm, 250 Chapel St Prahran
Sydney: Sat Nov 29th 1-2pm, 1A Victoria St, Paddington

I am dying to start a course – but I`m just working out how to work it around my 2 little ones.

    Hi Rebecca
Did you end up deciding on a makeup course?

I emailed an academy that let you do a makeup artist course from home but it works out to about $3000! It`s only Cert 2 so doesn`t even give you a qualification. I`m not sure how you get assessed or anything from home but at that price I won`t even bother to find out anymore about it. It was government accredited too. I would love to do a makeup artist course but they are all so expensive.

Tash, that program at your school sounds great. Wish they had that sort of thing when I went to school. My son`s girlfriend is doing Cert 3 in Beauty Services as part of her yr 10 studies and it only cost her about $400 plus $200 for the uniform.

Napoleon Perdis Makeup Academy does a diploma in makeup for around $10,000+!! I wanted to do it a few years ago but am not a major fan of their products so didnt go ahead with it.

I am really interested in that too… since a lot of make up jobs req qualification.. let us know how you go!
