I don`t know… we always get told never to keep mascara for more than 6 months, but really, who doesn`t? The article itself says 90% of women keep make up longer than they “”should””.
Obviously there is not a big epidemic of infections from it, or we would have heard about it. I`ve never gotten an infection from make up, and the only people I know who have are people who have sensitivities and allergies and have to be super careful about everything. I think it`s all a bit overblown.
I wash my brushes every week and I always wash my hands before touching make up and skin care products, so I`m not terribly fussed about bacteria.
I`m more paranoid about the germs I might pick up on an escalator railing or from ATM buttons!

the article suggested to use dish washing liquid for washing brushes, but i find personally that baby shampoo does the job just as well, and will leave your brushes a lot softer too. and it`s pretty cheap.
there`s a whole heap of brush cleaning tutorials on youtube, i think enkore has a pretty good one.

Thanks for the link BB, good article, like the idea of storing eyeliners in an air tight tupperware container, clever!

The thing that grosses me out the most is people that use the testers in shops… Ew i was at target recently and i saw a few girls applying testers to their face 🙁
