Anyone writing a thesis?

Hey beauties,

Just wondering if anyone is doing their Honours year this year and if so, what’s your thesis topic?

I just started last week and am so daunted by the idea of writing a whole thesis in between normal university work! I have a topic but really need to narrow it down but I have a great supervisor so hopefully I’ll be on track soon:)

That’s right Roxy, My supervisor hasn’t had a chance to look at the thesis all week.

Which is OK because my friend who proof read my thesis did some major editing for me during the week.

Every time I finished a chapter I would send it to my supervisor to look at, so it is not like she has been given a thesis she has not looked at during the year.

Fingers crossed there is only a few minor tweaks ! xxxxxx

Wow Nat, that is an honour for you to have some of your work published- how exciting =D

    Thanks roxy 🙂

I have the hard copy of AGLC on my desk. But I will check it out.

Hey BQ, great minds think alike! If you have the hard copy you may not need to bother about checking the book I used. As I said earlier, I prefer to use a hard copy or book to quickly check reference information. Do let us know how you go with your first legal essay. And good luck for other assessments I know you have coming up soon. xxx

Yvette, why are you possibly getting an extension? Is it because your supervisor needs more time to review? If so, just stay calm, take a few breaths and know that you have done the best work you possibly can. Hopefully you won’t have to do any re-writing or, if you do, it is only a little bit. Keep us posted. xxx

Nat – you must be great at your work if you are preparing articles for publishing. Very detailed work as well. Writing can be a joy but sometimes it can be tiring if you need to double check references etc. Hope it all goes smoothly for you. xxx

Thanks for the help roxy 🙂

Will let you know how I go 🙂

Here is an online copy of the AGLC 3 (Australian Guide to Legal Citation 3rd Edition). Is it much different to the guide you use?

Hi BQ, I checked it out and it is more or less the same. I found that my little book is easier to use as I used to keep it on my desk when typing up essays and articles. Very handy especially for checking when you use ‘id’ or ‘op cit’ and other similar citations.

It is very short and relatively inexpensive if you think it might be more practical for you. You could have a look at a copy in a law library or a uni bookshop. Although I like online tools there are times when I still find a book more handy to use to look up info quickly. My edition is quite old so it may have changed since. x
