21st Birthday Presents!

Okay, I need your help. I have some 21sts coming up much sooner than I realised and am stuck for present ideas! I actually have 3 coming up in the next month! Eeek!

They are close friends… budget varies though. I can’t afford alot since they all fall in May lol… so between $50-100. For some I’d only spend $50, others I’d go up higher. So gifts anywhere in that range are good! For one I have got her a nice necklace, but want something to add to the gift.. so again, not going to spend a fortune as i’ve already spent a bit so far.

I need gift ideas for both Male and Female!

I’m so stuck. Help me!

Also if anyone has any good sites where I could maybe find some quirky – different sort of gifts (that arent junk… so not novelty items, more like unique gifts), would love that too!

Thanks in advance!!!

    You need http://www.thinkgeek.com and http://www.shanalogic.com 😉

They have all the quirky presents you’ll ever need.

I think an Aussie site called LatestBuy has some of the things, but not as fun.

Also as part of my tee collection is http://www.threadless.com

I’m currently waiting on a Threadless and Thinkgeek haul of awesomeness.

Thanks ladies. Will check out those links tonight, thanks Roxy.

Yeah Natrissara, I dont have alot of cash to spend – certainly not 1000s lol. And I want to get things that are somewhat personalised, but one person i dont see often (we keep in touch via letters.. yup old fashioned snail mail!) so it makes it harder to get a good personalised gift that I can be sure she doesnt already have one of! If that makes sense.

I really appreciate all the ideas, and I’ve got some things in mind now thanks to all your replies. So thanks. But feel free to keep the suggestions coming!

I am having a really hard time with the male. He’s so hard to buy for. Like I cant get clothes etc, because he’s super picky. I’ve known him for a long time, and all my previous gifts have been super personalised and really cater to him, and now its hard because I’ve run out of ideas! Hence why I need you ladies to help me out!

I gotta agree with Roxy here hmm these sound like some great but almost over the top gifts ( i mean it really depends on ppls budgets and also HOW many ppl all pitch in) but i know it was not like this for me, only 10yr ago..
And i guess i did my 21st in Aus after being here 1 yr only so it wasnt lklike really gr8 life long friends… i did other things back in asia when i was back but that was like 2 yrs later.
So i dont judg by my own but the friends 21st i was at in the last 5-10 yrs was nice gifts but nothing that was 1000s $ all joined but maybe things like ipods and spa gify vouchers that were few 100 combined.

overall i think the gift is not best measured by how much to spend but how much the preson means to u…
so like the closer a friend the MORE personal the gift should be, reflecting what u know about them and whatthey mean to you.
It doesnt need to be a self made thing , but relating to what u know they love.
I like to do things for closer friends in gifts like jewelry that matches their dressing style or fave colors, things like that.

    well thats my view

I am so impressed with the gifts you beauties received for your 21st. I never received anything so generous which was a long time ago. I agree that it is great if people chip in to buy one or two special items but that is not always possible.

Chrissy, here are some links to a couple of online stores that might help you even with some ideas even if you don’t buy their products:

I am sure you will get other good suggestions. A lovely jewellery box is always a great present. Good luck with your research and happy shopping. x

It truly depends on the person personality. For a female, if shes flirty, get her a voucher to have her nails done, or a party dress, or clothing voucher. If shes a bit more conservative, a clothing store voucher or a basket of girly creams & lotions etc, or a pretty perfume. For guys, if hes outdoorsy, get him his favouite teams jersey, or a ticket to sport event. For a guy thats a party type, get him a really cool shirt from a modern mens clothing outlet, or a chunky watch. For the conservative type, get him a couple of movie passes(gold glass), or a basket of chocolates/mens mags etc. Even if you can’t spend a lot on the present, always glam it up with the wrapping and the card, it’s always a winner at a 21st. Half of the time the presents don’t get opened until the end of the night, or when they go home.

For my dad’s 50th i found a artist that did caricature done with elements of his personality and his likes in the pic: dad was studying to be a pilot, likes cigars and the all blacks so:

He was driving hobby plane while holding a cigar with the all blacks jersey on. The caricature was A3 and costed like 60 or so i think and we got it framed at the framers but u cood pick a frame up from anywhere that is A3 I see A3 frames in the shops all the time. i just looked it up in the yellow pages…you can get quotes from others if u have the time… we didnt we needed it done ASAP.

I had my 21st in feb, and I got alot of thomas sabo charm bracelets with a charm on them. I got mostly jewellery or money (I prefer gifts over money because I like opening presents lol), and I have to say i wear the charm bracelets all the time. I also got an oroton bag which was a joint present (maybe you have put in with someone else to get a designer handbag or clutch?) I got a nice watch as well. I did some mugs that said ’21!’ on them lol and also the 21 wine glasses from people. I don’t mind the wine glasses (just plain ones with a silver 21 on them).
