Temperamental Skin

I am looking for good skincare products and foundation. I have extremely pale skin although it is very red and shows some small broken capillaries.
My face particularly is difficult as it is dry but oily and has large pores.
I am 19 and cannot find any skincare which suits my skin.
Please help!

My best tip would be to use Witch Hazel as a toner. I have a skin type similar to yours and have had a massive improvement in texture and almost no pimples since I started using Witch Hazel.

Beauty254, there is a liquid foundation that pale-skinned girls should know about which is Models Prefer Infinite Colour Foundation in Priceline. I have pale skin and I was surprised to find a colour match (although the foundation didn’t work for my dry skin). This product is listed on BH so you can read reviews for it. I’m recommending this foundation because I assume that you are on a budget due to your young age. If money is not an issue and you can visit a Mecca store in the city, you might want to look at NARS Sheer Glow which has foundations in pale shades.

I’m pale with cool undertones as well and the foundation I mentioned above is my closest match so far, it’s fairly cheap and easy to find so I’d recommend trying it or testing it in store sometime. L’Oréal True Match is also worth looking into although the shade I got wasn’t pale enough I found the coverage and lasting ability to be really good with that one

Dermalogica Ultra Calming range really helped me- the cleanser & barrier repair are my favourite. I don’t suffer from sensitive skin, more sensitized skin when the weather plays up, hormones, new products etc. but many of my friends/clients have very sensitive skin and this range worked for them- Find a Dermalogica store or salon that stocks it and ask them for some samples before you buy. Skin can be very oil but also dry/dehydrated at the same time, don’t use drying products to try and eliminate oil, this will only make your skin dryer & promote more oil production! Try and balance you skin –
As for foundation, the only way you’ll find on that works for you it through trial & error unfortunately.. just keep trying.
The redness, maybe try Smash box green facial primer- this works for me. Or any primer/concealer with a green tint to it, green counteracts red & neutralizes it
    good luck 🙂

Although I haven’t yet tried it I’d suggest looking into the Trilogy skincare range. It’s for extra sensitive skin so shouldn’t go badly.

What are you looking for in a foundation? Coverage? Something pale friendly? I’m not sure what to advice with that yet, sorry.

I’m really pale too and agree that the L’Oréal Paris Lumi Magique is a decent liquid foundation, I have it in the shade Pure Pearl which is pretty spot on after application.

You can use Dove Essential Deep Cleansing Cream to clean your face.

For scrub, I will recommend you SUKIN Revitalizing Facial scrub.

In mask you can use NEUTROGENA Hydro Boost Mask 5 pack.

Sephora’s Instant Refreshing Toner is good and in foundation I will suggest you L’OREAL PARIS Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation.

    Hope this will help you.

My biggest recommendation would be to oil cleanse because my skin type was very similar to yours but it no longer is now that I use an oil or a balm instead of a foaming cleanser. Don’t worry about the fact your skin is oily, oil cleansers are fantastic on oily skin.

Have you considered Lush skincare? They have a great cleanser called Ultrabland which is a beeswax and almond oil based balm and it leaves your skin feeling great when used with a hot damp washcloth. I’m currently using one of their fresh masks called Cosmetic Catastrophe (or maybe Catastrophe Cosmetic?) that I find is great at knocking any redness out of my skin so I’ve been using it in the morning instead of at night when I can. It just calms things down.

Alternatively I would look at maybe Clinique if you like more traditional skincare? They have a redness range that is quite popular. I would just stay away from their cleansers. I personally can’t tolerate any cleanser that has sulfates in it which is basically any foaming cleanser. If your skin is very reactive I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the same.
