My reviews are getting noticed!

I have been writing reviews on my blog for about a year now. I don’t do it very often. I first started writing them partly to respond to product recommendation requests from my clients (brides) and found out that I quite enjoy doing it (when I have time).

Last week I have been asked by K Beauty Asutralia to write a review on Klairs Airy Soft UV Essence. I was a little surprised as Korean Beauty is not my specialty. I said that my review will be honest whether they like it or not. They said they are happy for me to write it honestly because they like my writing style!! I’m so chuffed. I requested 6 weeks to test it properly and they were happy with that!

I will not be able to turn this into anything big. I don’t like churning out reviews without much thought but it feels good to get some recognition!

ETA: here’s my blog just off the back of my website. Not in a fancy format and no pretty pictures but I hope it’s the content that counts: https://www.stella-lee.com.au/blog

Reviving this old thread because a couple of weeks ago I was sent the Roots Base to test & review … I thought it was going to be one product but a whole set arrived!

It’s supposed to be K-beauty but it is “inspired” by Australian botanical, almost a bit like “fusion” skincare which is a novel concept to me. So far I am really liking it particularly the texture and the scent. But that’s all I can say for now. Still early days.

Fantastic review, SJ. I must admit that I struggle applying the recommended 1 tsp amount of sunscreen.

    • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

I was told by my derm to apply half of it then wait a few minutes to let it soak in then apply the other half paying particular attention to those points like the nose, tops of cheeks and forehead (where I freckle the most). I find physical sunscreens easier to use as they absorb much quicker than lotion type ones which sit on top of my skin in a greasy slick and never seem to absorb

SJ Great to read the review, you gave it a good amount of use time before writing the review too which is really important 🙂 hope more products come your way too! Just an aside but is there a typo in the Cons section (under the pros/cons) seems to be a link that`s gone awry?

i realised that I forgot to reply – but I fixed the typo and the link back then – thank you du!

It`s a struggle for everyone! Another “”trick”” I found, is to use a moisturiser with SPF, then a sunscreen, then a bb cream or foundation with SPF. You don`t get to add up all the SPFs in the labels (e.g. you don`t get SPF 30 +50 +30), but at least in this way the total amount used is closer to a teaspoon.

Great review. I (naughty me) neglect sunscreen all the time.

I first found applying sunscreen consistently was challenging because it is not something that gives you instant results. It takes time to develope a habit. My hubby had not been using sunscreen, and I could see his skin aged very quickly once he hit 32 or so. As if all the sun damage accumulated over the past years all showed up at once. He now uses sunscreen everyday but I honestly think it is too late, but better late than never!

Good review skincare junkie and thanks for sharing with us on the forum. I`m sure they`ll be very happy with your review.
My skincare these days is based a lot on the experiences of forum members and I am quite happy with the results.

Thanks GeeJ! I really like this sunscreen so the review was easy to write. I tend to look for at least one or 2 of negative aspects of every product but couldn`t really find one with this. Another sunsscreen I would use on my face is Mecca to Save face. I have been using it for many years but feel that Klairs is superior. Clinique super city block is another of my favourite, but it is expensive compared to this (more expensive but half the size)

where does one buy the Klaris Soft Airy UV Essence ?

    • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

Mine was sent to me by Kbeauty Australia (kbeautyaustralia.com.au). They sell it for $32.95 but I am not sure whether it is the cheapest you can get in Sydney. The stock is very fresh though. Mine doesn`t expire until 2021

I can’t believe its been 6 weeks already SJ! Unbelievable!
I enjoyed learning more about sunscreens in your review. I’ve been doing it all wrong! I need to apply way more than what I have been to attain the recommendations set by the Cancer Council. I also didn’t realise that the protection gap between SPF 30 and SPF 50 was so little as well. I also enjoyed as always the breakdown of the ingredients in this product. I’m really interested in giving this one a try. Well done SJ! Congratulations on your great work 🙂

Thanks so much freaky. The feedback is really appreciated. It is extremely challenging to put the recommended amount of sunscreen on the face. I use sunscreen on a daily basis and I just can`t see how am I going to put a teaspoon of sunscreen on my face every day, but I am not out in the sun a lot and I am always aware that I am not getting that stated spf (e.g. I may only be getting an SPF15 or 20 by using half the amount). So it is still better than nothing. When I do outdoor activities then I pile on as much sunscreen as I can.

      • 5 yrs, 4 mths ago

That`s great info SJ. I`m also not outside that much but when I do I`ll be piling that teaspoon amount from now on. The Klairs sunscreen sounds like a good one to apply the recommended amount due to its light consistency.

The review is brilliant, skincare junkie. Totally honest and includes anything and everything you’d want to know before deciding whether this is for you. It’s not something I’ve considered with super sensitive skin and I can definitely understand the pampering from a “normal” facial having a far greater appeal for those who find time out difficult – read all of you with toddlers and young children!! at least – but for a specialised treatment for anyone who needs something like this it could be wonderful.

I’m sure Ella Bache will be absolutely delighted with your review. Congratulations on a job very well done.

    • 5 yrs, 5 mths ago

Thank you so much Trish for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I would be very happy if it could help someone to decide whether they would like to try it or not, particularly it is not an inexpensive treatment!

Wowsers just had a read and it was so professional and for people interested in trying it out, you have given honest opinions. I am sure they are happy with your first presentation review. I am in awe of your talent. well done 🙂

    • 5 yrs, 5 mths ago

Thanks so much Rpear! I have bought myself a 2 hour treatment as a reward for myself. Ella Bache has definitely won more business from me!
