This might sound really weird, I read that if you slice a clove of garlic in half and rub it on the bite, its antiseptic properties help it heal and stops the itch.

I haven’t tried it myself (no mozzies around here), but I think it’s worth a try and doesn’t cost a thing (hardly) and can’t really hurt.

    Good luck, hope this helps.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share.
The other day I got bitten by a mosquito and I got the usual horrible itch that comes with it and since I wanted to try something that I have never used before I applied some pure aloe vera gel to the bite. Amazingly the itching stopped straight away for me (not just calmed it down like tea tree does for me) and within 20minutes all signs of the bite was nearly completely gone even though I had started scratching it before I went and used the aloe vera!

Was that the stuff straight from the plant??

The tube says that it is 99% pure Aloe Barbadensis.
So, yes I would say that it is straight from the plant.

I think it is probably different, I have one that says 100% but when I looked at the ingredients there were preservatives and a few nasties etc all added 🙁 However I am not overly concerned about that if it still works then will definitely give it a go. I would rather get a plant in the future though as I was fooled by the packaging on my aloe vera gel and it wasn’t until I posted it on here that I found out just how misleading it was, lol.

Oh were you asking if I had used fresh aloe? Sorry I thought you asked if I had used some aloe mix (ie aloe and tea tree). So, no I used gel from a tube. We have a aloe plant in the backyard but it is kinda struggling to survive so I’m not going to be picking from it at the moment 🙂

I’m surprised a company would advertise being 100% aloe when anything natural like that would need stabilisers to be able to sit on a store shelf!

No not at all, they do it all the time, the labelling laws here in Australia are disgusting there are many brands that call themselves natrual an d organic and are far from it, lol.

And there are also the ones that say packed in Australia and don’t say where the contents are from…or made from local and imported ingredients.
I once bought something form a store the had made in the EU printed on the back, when I came home I ripped off the Australian marketed sticked and read underneath, ….made in Spain, …..made in China, …..made in Malaysia, packed in France, marketed by ….London. So only about 33% of the product itself was made in the EU, I was not happy being lied to but I know there is nothing I can do, as the laws don’t cover that 🙁

I know isn’t it pathetic, hopefully they will change the laws one day to stop so many consumers being ripped off!!
