I love Issey Miyake. He’s the ultimate minimalist, not to mention perfect perfumer – who didn’t covet and adore the original ’92 release, L’eau D’Issey? The crisp aquatic floral was both a critical and commercial success, even paving the way for a new fragrance category: the aquatics. Still, all these years later it remains a modern classic and a staple of many women.
But that’s not why I love Mr Miyake. Being a word gal at heart, I love his clever little puns that add a further dimension to the scents. The original translates to an ‘odyssey’, while the most recent release A Scent By Issey Miyake (in store September 20) plays on the word ‘ascent’. Interestingly both words depict a journey and I, for one, sure can’t wait to see where we’re headed …
Do you like Issey Miyake perfumes? What’s your signature scent?
Do not have signature one, love changing around. Orientals my fave
Still trying to use up one I got as a gift. Not my thing, their perfumes
I love Issey so so much. I have three Issey perfumes currently.
