This was received at the BeautyHeaven Natural Month event. Disrupting the natural and ethical skincare category is etch & ethos, an Australian skincare brand. They are working with sustainable leaders in the industry and diverting milk bottles away from landfill and onto your bathroom shelf, by using the plastic to manufacture their product bottle. The pumps are still a work in progress as due to the nature of the mechanism currently use, the pump contains an inner metal spring, however there are trials with other brands using an all plastic spring vacuum pump and no doubt this brand will follow that route in the future. The 300ml/g size is marketed as the forever bottle and the 1kg/lt as the refill, however both bottles can be kerbside recycled. The Nourishing body lotion features sunflower, castor and carnauba as it’s hero ingredients, all of which have hydrating and nourishing properties that will leave you with soft skin. It contains 94% natural ingredients and follows an international standard to get that marking, so do not been too worried with the chemical sounding names in the ingredient list. It also contains natural sourced beeswax from abandoned beehives, which is an ingredient that is known to help create a skin barrier to lock in moisture. The texture is a light to mid weight cream which is easily absorbed into the skin and can be used on sensitive skin. This scent is a warn floral, yet it is subtle enough to be used all year round.

I have used Batiste dry shampoo for many years and have always found the scents to be overly sweet and competing with any perfumes one would wear. The scents were also more tailored to a younger audience, and it made me very conscious of wearing it to corporate meetings. This "Naturally" range has a more subtle, neutral scent making it perfect for use all the time. The print on the can is fits in perfectly with the 100% Natural Extracts used and with the marketing around this. The brand also uses 40% less packaging that the comparable product in the market and is recyclable, aligning themselves ethically and sustainably. The use is simple and easy, shake, spray, rub in, brush and go. It blends and absorbs easily which is perfect for dark coloured hair as no white residue is visible. Bamboo and Gardenia helps to strengthen the hair, whilst rice powder and tapioca starch absorbs the excess oils, giving life to fine, flat hair. It is also gentle on the scalp and did not cause any itchiness. Using this will add volume and instant freshness to your hair, along with a moderate flowery scent. This was received as part of the Natural Beauty Month event. The packaging has changed from the one in the image and the 500ml size now has a pump which allows for ease of use. The product is a medium viscosity gel, which had a generous lather when massaged into the scalp and hair. The scent is not overpowering but not subtle either, however it does not leave the hair scented. Upon the first use, I found my hair to feel a bit dry and it tangled easily, but this was just the shampoo cleansing my hair of the build up form previous products. With each use after, my hair felt softer, became more manageable and developed a s natural shine, making my hair look and feel healthy. It contains oils such as rosemary, cedarwood and lavender for promoting scalp health and cleansing. Pleasing to see that supermarkets and pharmacies readily stock this product at an affordable price, allowing individuals to use this natural shampoo as part of their hair wash routine.

This was received at the Natural Beauty Month Event. A'Kin is a brand that I recall using somewhat 20 years ago, as it was recommended by the sales assistant at the local health care store. It is not something that I repurchased nor a brand that I have revisited much over the years. Recently, I have seen the brand on the shelves at many larger retailers and can safely say they have definitely improved over the years. The hair mask is packaged in an aesthetically pleasing tub with an aluminum lid, making it feel a bit of a mid-high end product. Labelling indicates that the product has been scientifically tested and one would achieve proven results by using this, setting the bar a bit on the high end for results. Upon opening the jar and removing the inner seal, you are greeted by a warm, invigorating aroma and a rich cream based product. The product is recommended to be used weekly on clean, towel dried hair and can be left anything form 5 minutes to overnight. Using it this way ahs resulted in softer, shinier more manageable hair. If you are like me and hate having wet hair, try applying it on dry hair, leaving for a few hours and then was with shampoo only and the results are very similar. The ingredients of Jojoba, Avocado, Squalane, Vitamin E and vitamin B, have been well thought out as they cover everything from scalp hydration and soothing to damage control, repair and nourishment of the strands. A plus on this product is that it is vegan, halal, cruelty free and best of all Australian made and owned!

Aveda is a brand that has been around for many years and is a pioneer in hair care technology and so the expectation of this product to perform miracles was great and it did not disappoint. The product is packaged within a beautiful green bottle with a pump, allowing for a measured dose which is great as you only need a small amount of product. The product in itself is a non greasy light cream like texture with a subtle odour and is to be applied on the mid to ends region of the hair, gently patted or massaged in and left overnight. I was a little worried that it would leave a stain on my white bed covers and sheets, but it did not. The product is a leave in treatment and does not need to be washed out prior to styling, making it suitable for time poor individuals. I have permanent straightening done on my hair a few times a year and whilst this is better than ironing it a few times a week, there is still some degree of damage to the hair. Regular use of this product has improved the appearance of the split ends and my hair feels stronger, softer and looks shinier. The formula contains plant based ingredients, great for the ethical and sustainable area of hair care, as well as bond building ingredients, all of which protect the hair from future damage by forming a layer over the hair as well as strengthening the core of the hair to make it stronger. Macro green botanical blend of oils nourishes the hair and promotes repair. The hero ingredient is the Nangai oil which seals together the split ends resulting in overnight results. As you only need a little of this product, the bottle will last a really long time making in great value for money. This will be added to my hair care routine.
