Did anybody else on the trial get an email reminder to submit their review even though they have already done it? Or is it just me?

Am just about to begin typing up my review and am surprised how incredible this product is for sensitive skin!

I am not on this trial but I have this product. I have read some of the early reviews published and I have to say I have a different opinion. At the outset, there is a very obvious alcoholic smell when I apply it to my face on a cotton pad. This is rather new as the original has no obvious alcoholic inclusion. On the surface, the ingredients do not reveal an alcoholic ingredient but I might have to look into this a bit closer later.

I’m not sure how the others have been using it but I do not apply enough to soak my pad. I think a 10c amount is enough but I wear minimal full coverage foundation if that is anything to go by. Plus (and none of the reviews so far mention this) the texture is goopy, not watery. In other words, the formulation will not “run”/spread and soak a pad.

In terms of performance, it certainly takes off a lot, but I’m not sure it completely removes my makeup. Amongst other things, I am also concerned about the alcohol smell so I disregard the instructions and rinse off and I recommend others do so.

Isopropyl myristate is notably the fourth ingredient and can potentially irritate, clog pores and/or cause acne inflammation. To clarify though, it doesn’t cause those symptoms but as result of its effective ability to penetrate skin, it is a carrier for the absorption of other chemicals in the formulation. Don’t know about you but I don’t understand why I would need absorption of anything from a micellar/cleanser – I’m trying to get stuff off my skin! Plus there aren’t really any beneficial ingredients for skin in this formulation.

Lastly, just confirming that there is no polyaminopropyl biguanide (PHMB) in this formulation, according to the ingredients list anyway.

Anyway, all of this will go into some sort of review I will eventually put together.

Courtesy of wikipedia: “”Isopropyl myristate is a polar emollient and is used in cosmetic and topical medicinal preparations where good absorption into the skin is desired. Isopropyl myristate is being studied as a skin enhancer. It is also used as a pesticide against head lice which works by dissolving the wax that covers the exoskeleton of head lice, killing them by dehydration. It is used in the same way in flea and tick killing products for pets.

It is used to remove bacteria from the oral cavity as the non-aqueous component of the two-phase mouthwash product “”Dentyl pH””.

Isopropyl myristate is also used as a solvent in perfume materials, and in the removal process of prosthetic make-up.

Hydrolysis of the ester from isopropyl myristate can liberate the acid and the alcohol. “”

Apparently this can happen when it is absorbed (although it does have a low absorption rate). Perhaps something else in there is causing it to hydrolyse.

    Hi fellow trialees,

I’m curious to know what brand of cotton pads you are using for this micellar water and if you’re having difficulty getting your pads to soak up enough product. I’m using pads from ALDI (Swisspers dupe) but am finding it takes a bit of time to get the pad as saturated as I would like. Any suggestions?

    Thanks beautiful people 🙂

Hi Pretty_please, I`m using Swisspers cotton rounds and I agree it takes longer to get the pad saturated. Alice smile 🙂

Thanks Alice smile 🙂 I’ve started putting the liquid on one pad then putting another pad on top, eventually squishing them together. Soaking the two at once makes it much quicker for me but still pretty annoying really.
