Introducing the vampire hair lift

First it was the vampire facial – now it’s all about the vampire hair lift!

The hair growth technique Рwhich uses the same technology as the bloody facial made famous by Kim Kardashian last year Рstimulates dormant hair follicles, encouraging them to start growing again. While the technology is still new, if it takes off, it could revolutionise the industry.Ӭ
Not for the squeamish, it involves taking four syringes of the patient’s blood and putting it in a centrifuge (a rotating piece of medical equipment) to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. Local anaesthetic is then injected into the scalp to ensure the area is numb before the blood is re-injected – primarily in bald or balding areas.

Officially called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), it’s potential treatment option for men or women who suffer from hair loss either through genetic predisposition, hormonal issues, trauma or alopecia.

But the procedure doesn’t come cheap: it costs around  £1,300 (about $2,400) and takes 90 minutes.

With studies into its effectiveness still underway, time will tell whether the vampire hair lift stands up to more traditional hair thickening techniques.

Would you try the vampire hair lift? What other hair growth tips and tricks can you recommend?
