If you’ve never had a facial peel, may we suggest you change that? They can work wonders on mature skin, helping to refine, resurface and rejuvenate it. The result? A smoother, glowing complexion.

bh’s Jackie booked in to try the new organic spa Lactic + Enzyme Peel at Ze Flamant Rose in Surry Hills, Sydney. Read on to find out what she thought of her treatment…

What treatment did you get and where?

An organic spa Lactic + Enzyme Peel at Ze Flamant Rose in Surry Hills, Sydney, with the lovely French salon owner, Emilie.

What did the treatment involve?

My skin was cleansed, toned, exfoliated, peeled, massaged and moisturised, but I was very relaxed, so I might have missed a few steps! I was there for an hour and a half, but it whizzed by in no time and I came out of the salon feeling refreshed and calm, which was lovely on a cold and wintery afternoon.

How did the treatment feel on your skin?

It was a luxurious, gentle and pampering experience. Though the treatment used ‘active’ ingredients, there was no stinging at all – rather,  just a light tingling. Emilie used the product range with an amazing touch. It felt as if my skin was getting the nourishment it needed, but very gently. I particularly liked the way she gently used her fingertips to massage and enliven my skin cells.

How was your experience at the salon?

It’s a small salon on a busy Surry Hills street so when you walk in, there is an immediate sense of calm and respite from outside. The room felt warm, personal and private, which I liked, and the treatment rooms are cosy and intimate so you are encouraged to relax and start to unwind. Emilie is a knowledgeable and expert beauty therapist who is also a hairdresser. I loved the facial, but I was also treated to a scalp, neck and shoulder massage at the hairdressing basin, followed by complimentary blow-dry! I walked out feeling all put back together!

What were the results like?

My skin felt incredibly soft and my fine lines were clearly lighter in appearance. I also loved the fact that I walked out with freshly blow-dried hair, rather than the greasy, unkempt hair that often accompanies facials. I loved the products – the texture and fragrance added to the overall luxury of the treatment.

Who would you recommend this treatment for?

For me, facials and treatments of any kind are a welcome break in an otherwise hectic day. My skin benefits for days afterwards, reminding me I should really book in for a facial at least once per month. My fine lines have reduced, my blackheads have cleared, and my skin looks bright and healthy. I’d recommend it to anyone with dry, mature skin who wants less lines, a healthy glow and a fabulous post-facial hairdo!
