Mother’s Day DIY spa day

There’s not a woman out there who’d say no to a little pampering, so if your purse strings are feeling at bit tight at the moment why not treat your mum to a DIY spa day this Mother’s Day? You won’t have to spend a bucket load of cash, and not only will she enjoy every minute of it, she’ll love the thought and effort you’ve put in to it, too.

PREPARATION

Before you put your pamper hat on, do your mum and favour and hide her phone (she doesn’t need the distraction), light a few candles, put on some relaxing tunes and pour her a cup of tea. Oh, and I’m sure she’d enjoyed some fresh fruits to snack on, too.

DIY PAMPER DAY PLAN
Detoxifying bath: Fill the tub with warm water and amp up your mum’s state of relaxing from the get go with a calming, detoxifying bath. Mix ¾ Epsom salts with ¼ cup baking soda and add to water. Complete this perfect bathing combination by adding a few drops of essential oil. endota spa calm essential oil will work a treat. Note: get your mum to dampen her hair just before she gets out of the bath (you’ll see why in two steps time!).

Skin slimming treatment: Once your mother is finished in the tub, help her to get the slimming effects of an in-salon body wrap with Nivea Body Contouring Cream Q10. This luxurious cream is fantastic post-bath, and aims to leave your mum’s thighs, belly and buttocks looking and feeling firmer thanks for its collagen boosting active Q10 proteins. Note: ensure your mum feels as comfy as possible by leaving a fluffy gown or loose pair of trackies out for her.
Nourishing hair mask:
Once your mum is out of the bath, slathered in slimming cream and feeling comfy in her loose clothes, sit her down and use your hands to gently massage her head. After 10 or so minutes of stimulating the scalp, apply a hydrating treatment oil like Dove Therapy Nutritive Nourishing Oil Care Treatment Serum through the ends of her damp hair. Then, wrap her hair up into a bun so the product can work its nourishing wonders. Note: this product does not need to be rinsed out, so tell you mum to style her hair as usual when her pampering session is over.

Hand exfoliation: While your mum is letting her hair treatment penetrate, grab a bowl of warm water, dampen her hands and give them a good ol’ scrub. (Don’t be rough, though. Gentle is best.) Something like Sally Hansen Hand Re-Surfacer with Micro-Crystals will remove any dead skin cells, leaving your loved one with smooth, soft, happy hands. Remember to remove any product residue with a warm damp towel.

Healthy complexion facial: Further add to your mum’s state of relaxation by removing all traces of her make-up with a cream cleanser and some cotton pads, before gently massaging a skin-balancing product like Decleor Paris Clay and Herbal Mask into her skin and allow it to sit for 15 minutes. This purifying and softening mask also contains extracts of chamomile, which will amplify her state of bliss.

Make-up makeover: Complete your Mother’s Day DIY spa treatment day with a little make-up. Don’t go overboard, though – we’re talking a hydrating and skin-perfecting tinted moisturiser like Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser with SPF 15, some nourishing lip balm and a coat or two of mascara. She’ll be left feeling pretty, but her recently pampered skin will be happy, too.

Now, if a DIY spa treatment plan isn’t possibly the best Mother’s Day gift ever, I’m not sure what is. Perhaps something from this great beautyheaven Mother’s Day Gift Guide?
