Bridal beauty prep – your skin

Bridal beauty prep – your skin

A matter of weeks ago, I married the man of my dreams and celebrated with my family and closest friends. Yep, I’m a wifey now! And, of course, being a skin care editor, I just had to make sure my bridal beauty prep was top-notch – I did NOT want to miss out on that ‘bridal glow’ everyone talks about!

About six weeks before the big day, I was lucky enough to be invited to undergo a Danné Montague King (DMK) skin treatment. I’d never had a DMK treatment before, but I’d heard many times that their treatments are incredibly effective and very much an ‘experience’ compared to your regular facial. Here’s what I thought of my pre-wedding treatments…

DMK QUICK PEEL

You know that ‘bridal glow’ I mentioned? Well, this is how I got it. The DMK Quick Peel is a 10-minute treatment that uses pseudo heat to increase circulation, which helps to boost oxygenation and the supply of nutrients to the skin, helping the skin to look plump, refreshed and glowing. It’s also antibacterial, so it’s perfect for helping to strengthen sensitive and reactive skin, as well as inflamed acne and rosacea.

Before your treatment, your skin therapist will let you know that the peel will feel very hot on your skin, but this heat is a pretend heat that tricks the skin into thinking it’s hot, which is what draws the blood to the skin’s surface. While the peel is on your skin working its magic, your skin therapist will fan your face to give you some relief from the heat. Trust me, it’s worth it!

DMK ENZYME THERAPY

I was also recommended the DMK Enzyme Therapy which helps to restore the skin to its optimal condition through transfer messenger enzymes (DMK is the only company in the world that uses this type of enzyme therapy). This 45-minute treatment helps to remove dead protein and toxins from the outer layer of the skin using a process called ‘reverse osmosis’. This process helps to create a healthier environment for skin cells and exercises the facial muscles for firmer, clearer-looking skin.

Unlike most facials that are cream formulas that sit on the skin, the Enzyme Therapy formula dries during the treatment and hardens over the skin. For some, this feeling can be a little uncomfortable, but I found it to be fascinating and quite relaxing at the same time.

More perfect pre-wedding skin treatments:

DERMALOGICA IONACTIVE POWER TREATMENT

Designed to supercharge skin with zero downtime, this 45-minute Dermalogica treatment is tailored to your skin concerns to help you achieve the results you’re after for your big day. Whether you want to clear up your acne pre-wedding, rehydrate your skin for a healthy glow, reduce sensitivity, or target lines and wrinkles, the IonActive formula is layered onto your skin depending on your needs.

ULTRACEUTICALS VITA-GLOW FACIAL

As its name suggests, the Ultraceuticals Vita-GLOW Facial is a 45-minute facial that helps to boost your skin’s glow by reducing pigmentation, uneven skin tone and dark spots. It incorporates five hyperpigment blockers, skin brighteners and exfoliators into the one treatment for a luminous, healthy glow.
