We review: A detox body wrap treatment

Even if you exfoliate and moisturise your body from top-to-toe on the reg, sometimes it might feel like your skin needs a little extra TLC of the professional kind. Your skin can succumb to scaliness and dryness year-round, so what’s the perfect remedy? A detox body wrap treatment to help give you softer, smoother and healthier looking skin.

beautyheaven’s Body & Health Editor, Beth put her skin in the hands of the experts at Endota Spa for an indulgent detox body wrap spa treatment that sent her (and her skin) on a one-way trip to cloud nine...
What treatment did you get and where?
“I had the Endota Spa Detox Body Treatment at Endota Spa in Rozelle, Sydney NSW.”
How much does the treatment cost?
“The cost for this treatment is $155.”
From start to finish, what did the treatment involve?
“The treatment involved a foot bath, scrub and moisturising pre-treatment ritual, followed by a dry body exfoliation, clay cocoon body treatment and body moisturising.
Following the relaxing footbath, my therapist got to work scrubbing my body with a dry body brush. She worked methodically, starting with my back, followed by my arms, legs and feet, and chest. She used a firm pressure, which I really like, but it can easily be adjusted if you don’t enjoy being scrubbed that hard. The therapist also used slightly less pressure for the insides of my arms and chest, where the skin is more delicate.
Once I had been scrubbed from top-to-toe, the therapist applied a clay mask with her hands to my entire body (except for my stomach and face) and, using part of the material I was lying on, wrapped it around my body firmly (but not too tightly), to let the mask do it’s magic.
The therapist then treated me to a 15-minute head massage, while I waited for the clay mask to set. She then unwrapped me and left the room while I took a short shower and rinsed the mask off my skin.
Once I had dried off, I returned to the therapy bed with a fresh towel over my body. The therapist then massaged a rich body moisturiser formulated with macadamia nut oil and vanilla all over my clean skin, to finish.”

How did the treatment feel on your skin?
“Overall, the treatment felt incredible on my skin. I loved the feeling of the rough body brush scrubbing my back in particular, as this isn’t a part of my body that gets a lot of love usually. I didn’t expect this part of the treatment to be as relaxing as it was – I almost fell asleep!
The clay body mask felt cool and gooey, and really refreshing on my skin (which was warm and slightly sensitive after the scrubbing). I felt a bit chilly as the mask was being applied, but once she had finished the therapist quickly wrapped me up and placed a warming heat pack on my stomach. It was a funny sensation being wrapped up in a cocoon, but I really liked it.
The head massage was probably my favourite part of the treatment – any tension that I was still holding onto just melted away. The massage was firm and the therapist’s fingers also combed through my hair, which – let’s be honest – is the best feeling in the world.
Finally, the body moisturiser, which felt incredibly rich and luxurious. The therapist worked it into my skin in smooth, gliding motions and I felt incredibly pampered.”
How did your skin feel immediately after the treatment?
“Immediately after the treatment my skin felt soft and smooth. There was no redness or irritation – just soft, glowing skin. I also enjoyed the slight vanilla fragrance of the moisturiser, which lingered on my skin all afternoon.”
How did your skin feel a couple of days after the treatment?
“A couple of days after the treatment, my skin still looked radiant and glowy. It didn’t feel quite as soft and smooth as it did initially, but this was to be expected (dead skin cells build up mighty quick!). However, I’m confident a quick body scrub at home followed by a nourishing moisturiser would restore it to what it was fairly effortlessly.”
What were the results like?
“I was really pleased with the results of the treatment. Not only did my skin look incredibly smooth and more radiant, I felt physically relaxed and completely de-stressed. I emerged from the salon with a lightness in my step – probably the best thing about indulgent salon treatments such as these!”
Who would you recommend this treatment for?
“I would recommend this treatment for any woman with rough or dry skin on her body, or anyone who just doesn’t pay much attention to the skin on their body generally (guilty as charged!). Can’t remember when you last used a body exfoliator, or a moisturiser more nourishing than a mere body lotion? This treatment’s for you!”

It sounds nice, but for that price I'd probably prefer a massage.

Dang. I could use one of these. Seriously. I'm feeling rather weighed down. I could use something that would leave me floating away afterwards...!

I had a body wrap and it was calming, though it felt a little strange when it heated up. I followed my wrap session with a divine massage
