Shonagh in the City: day two

Shonagh in the City: day two

I’ve got an easy day today (read: no interviews or shows). ”¨Epic jet lag kept me up until 3am, so I slept super late while the rest of MNY crew went sightseeing.

We’re staying at the W at 541 Lexington Avenue, right next door to the legendary Bliss Spa.  So, after dragging my weary body out of the cloud-like bed I checked into the spa for a much-needed massage – the Super Blissage treatment. Words can’t describe…  Several massage techniques are combined in the 85-minute treatment, which also includes parrafin packs for your feet and hands – so perfect after walking the length of the city yesterday, and just the thing to knead away the knots plaguing my stressed shoulders.

After my Bliss-out, I hopped in a cab down to Union Square Café (21 East 16th Street). The Zagat-rated restaurant is a fave hang of major celebs and supermodels, so I was expecting to see some familiar faces as I tucked into my Ricotta Gnocchi. No such luck today, but there was definitely a sea of lit-from-within-skin around me. Either these girls had just been at Bliss Spa too, or they were fresh from the runway at Bryant Park. My guess is the latter – they were all looking very model-like.

Circa 3pm, I met up with the Maybelline New York gals for ice-skating at Wollman Rink in Central Park. I’d forgotten how much fun it was. After an hour of sliding around the ice, we cabbed it back to the hotel and are preparing to go to dinner with the brand’s spokesmodels Erin Wasson and Julia Stegner. Super excited. I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow, but until then, enjoy this little tip I gleaned from MNY Global Make-up Artist Charlotte Willer yesterday.

“Blend your mascara formulas to create dramatic lashes. I like to apply MNY The Colossal Volum’ Express first to get the volume, then go over it with MNY Define-A-Lash for eyelashes with plenty of gloss.”

* Note: MNY The Colossal Volum’ Express is on-the-brink of being launched in Oz! Watch this space…
