Being the beauty devotee you are, I have no doubt you’ve heard of Estée Lauder. This gorgeous, sophisticated brand has been present in my house for as long as I can remember – with both my mother and grandmother massive fans of a number of Lauder products.
As a child, I remember watching my mum in awe as she applied her Lauder night cream before bed. I’d feel oh so grown up when she’d apply a little to my face too.
But beauty is not just about creams and this is something Evelyn Lauder knew only too well. As co-creator of the pink ribbon campaign for breast cancer awareness and research, Evelyn Lauder was a strong voice in women’s health. She helped create the pink ribbon symbol to remind Lauder customers to have regular breast examinations and later set up the Evelyn H. lauder Breast Center in New York.
Lauder herself was diagnosed with cancer in 2007. She died on November 12 at the age of 75.
“Evelyn Lauder embodied the heart and soul of the Estée Lauder companies,” said president and CEO Fabrizio Freda on behalf of the company.
