Skin challenge progress report – week 6

Not only is skin redness incredibly uncomfortable and difficult to treat, but it can also significantly impact someone’s self-confidence.

Rather than resorting to temporarily covering up redness every day with loads of concealer, or swapping from one product to another in an attempt relive the redness, Ultraceuticals has created the Ultra RED-Action Complex – a daily serum that works specifically to target facial redness caused by photo ageing.

Enriched with redness-reducing kinetin, andrographolide and niacinamide, we put it to the test with beautyheaven team member Laura, who has taken on a skin challenge to treat her redness and improve the condition of her skin. We’ve seen her results up until week three, so how has her skin been faring for weeks four to six? Let’s find out…

Week 4

“During week four, I felt like my skin was definitely getting into the swing of its new routine. I noticed that the texture had improved and my overall skin tone was more even. Although I still had some stubborn redness on my chin area, I was experiencing less of the occasional flushing that I sometimes get throughout the day. At my weekly check-in, I could see from the pictures that my skin looked clearer and more hydrated, which was really encouraging,” said Laura.

Week 5

“I had a bit of a cold during week five, which usually would make my skin get pretty red and angry. While I didn’t notice a huge difference in the redness week-on-week due to the fact my complexion was rebelling against me blowing my nose constantly, I did notice it was nowhere near as red as it normally would be. During my treatment, we also looked at the photos we took during week one and compared them with my week five snaps. One of the biggest things we noticed is that my dark circles had dramatically reduced. This was one really pleasant result I wasn’t even expecting, which was great news. I was also given a new product to try, the Even Skintone Serum Mild, which contains AHA, BHA, Bearberry Extract and Niacinamide to help resurface the skin and remove dead skin cells to allow the products I’m using to penetrate more easily and deeply. I noticed my skin was instantly softer after using it and I couldn’t wait to keep using it three times a week as instructed.”

Week 6

“How is my skin after the six weeks? The texture, tone and overall appearance are definitely much better. It is less blotchy and dry-looking, and is smoother. I’ve also noticed a difference in my fine lines, which are less noticeable, and my dark circles, which have definitely diminished. The redness on my chin area, which was the most visible, has reduced, although not completely. I have suffered from redness in this area for about 17 years, so I wasn’t expecting it to disappear completely in six weeks. I am still pleased with the results in this area of my face, though. It doesn’t feel as irritated as it used to and the texture is much less bumpy.”

“Well, this is the end of my six-week diary into my trial, although I am going to keep using the products and will let you know how I get on after three months, which is the recommended time to see even more noticeable results. To recap, this is the regimen I’ve been following:

Ultraceuticals Ultra RED-Action Complex – Once a day each morning after cleansing

Ultraceuticals Ultra Hydrating Milk Cleanser – Twice a day, morning and night

Ultraceuticals Ultra UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 50+ – Once a day after the Ultra RED-Action Complex

Ultraceuticals Ultra Moisturiser Cream – Once a day before bed

Ultraceuticals Even Skintone Serum Mild – Three times a week in the evenings before the Ultra Moisturiser Cream
