Flight fantastic

Flight fantastic

I’m getting giddy at the thought of warm, sunny days and long, balmy nights but just as we say “hello summer” I’ll be jetting off to arctic Blighty where sub-zero temperatures, not a glimmer of sun for weeks on end and constant drizzle (so not good for the hair) are the norm.

Of course, this switch from soaring temperatures to wintry weather calls for careful consideration when it comes to beauty essentials.

Flying is one thing. But 36 hours of travel combined with a significant change in external elements and, well, it’s quite possible your skin – not to mention your hair – could go into shock.

This means my skincare kit is of uppermost importance if I want to look presentable on touch down as opposed to someone who’s been dragged through a hedge backwards – twice!

Firstly, there’s my Frequent Flyer. No, I’m not referring to Qantas’ points program; I’m talking about the Frequent Flyer Health Boost. Anything that can boost your immune system and keep you hydrated while you’re whizzing through the air for 24 hours, breathing in all sorts of nasty germs (I have never been one for sharing while in a confined space) sounds like a must-have to me.

Lip balm for obvious reasons is next on the list. I can’t travel anywhere – even to the local shop and back – without an army of lip balms in my pocket / bag / purse / on my key chain. And right now I’m loving Carmex Lip Balm Click Sticks. Although I don’t think I’ll enjoy the benefit of its SPF 15 factor in dreary old Wales.

And because I wouldn’t want to scare the other passengers by arriving at the airport wearing no make-up I’ll be sure to pack some nifty cleansing cloths, like Bloom Off, Off and Away – Cleansing Wipes. Shame they can’t wipe away jet lag as easily as they wipe away impurities.

To combat the intense drying effects of 24 hours of air-conditioning I’ll be sure to squeeze Artistry Extra Dry Hydration Oil in my hand luggage. It hydrates skin, boosting its moisture content by a remarkable 25 per cent in just one hour. Love that!

To warm my washed-out complexion I’ll be calling on Australis Cosmetics Iridescent Dust. I’ll soon reclaim that sun-kissed Aussie glow with a few flicks of my powder brush in Heathrow toilets. It’s a glamorous life!

A spritz or two of Gwen Stefani L and I have faux freshness in an instant. Packed with the sweet scent of white freesia; jasmine; pear; rose; orange and frangipani blossom, it’ll have me feeling and (hopefully) smelling fresh as a daisy and ready for some close-up cuddles with the relos.
