Alpha H Liquid Gold recommendations

hi everyone!

i’ve recently been struggling with hyperpigmentation on my medium skin tone, after doing some research into what product might work best for me, i decided to order Aloha H Liquid Gold, as my skincare routine is all Alpha H products anyway.

i would love to know how any recommendations on how to use it, how often to use it that you’ve found to get the best results and also if anyone has had any success in fading pigmentation with it?

thankyou in advance xx

Raksha, I haven’t heard of a reaction similar to what you have experienced with Liquid Gold (getting scabs on the skin). The combination of alcohol and glycolic acid in the product could be too strong for your skin. You might want to think about contacting Alpha-H:

Just wanna check in with you ladies on Alpha H Liquid Gold. I’ve recently started using this, and in just 2 days, I’m getting this lovely glow. I was gonna say I really like this product; it’s easy to use (just sweep on and use nothing else after), then my skin starts to dry and crack; I get kinda scabs on my chin, which I tend to pick at…

I’ve stopped using them for now, and the dryness is improving. I wanna know if this is normal, if it’s just a phase I have to get thru (for softer skin). And oh yes, the tingling (sting) is rather uncomfortable too.

Alpha H have also released a less strong version called Rose Gold – this may work better on people that the original formula is too strong for.

I sometimes use it twice a week, just on its own, and it’s great for use when I have left my skincare routine late, like 11 pm so this is super quick for those nights

Also put it on the backs of your hands

I`m glad to hear that Millie – I`d hate for you to spend all that money and be less than happy about it!

However I`m with ray_jay on this one – if you do like the use of glycolic acid on your skin, please consider trying a different product after you finish up your bottle of Liquid Gold. One that doesn`t contain `bad` alcohol.

Denatured alcohol (alcohol denat. – the alcohol used in Liquid Gold) is part of the `bad alcohol` group (there are good and bad alcohols) and is a drying type of alcohol that aggravates, weakens and disrupts the surface layers of our skin. With continued use, your skin is no longer able to keep water and cleansing agents from penetrating into it, thus further eroding its surface layers. And it won`t be able to defend itself against environmental damage.

I would advise against buying a product if it contains these alcohols within the first five listed ingredients: ethanol/ethyl alcohol, denatured alcohol/alcohol denat, methanol, isopropyl alcohol, SD alcohol, or benzyl alcohol. Or better yet, avoid them completely.

Please feel free to ask the forum for suggestions on what some great AHAs (e.g. glycolic or lactic acids) are that are much better for your skin in the long run. Or don`t… I wouldn`t want you to think that I`m telling you what you shouldn`t buy if you like something. I just know if it were me, I would really appreciate someone letting me know. 🙂

Glad that the liquid gold is working!

I still use Alpha H every odd night. I must say, it did sting a lot for a couple of days. My skin feels more smooth after using it.

I love it but I can only use it sparingly, every few days. They do recommend wearing it overnight with no moisturiser for an intense treatment but my skin can’t handle that; it hurts! It has helped with my pigmentation and my milia. I always apply serum over the top.

One surprising benefit has been with my keratosis pilaris. I use it on my arms (I apply liberally) and it helps immensely with my extremely annoying, stubborn KP!

Some great tips here, I hope it works for you.

I’d suggest if your into acids/ incorporating some look for some others once you finish your liquid gold. The liquid gold contains alcohol denat as the second ingredient which I believe to be harmful long term.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

every 2nd night, avoid the eye area, wipe using cotton pads across the face and neck. go straight to bed DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON TOP it il lessen the effects

I feel the same way about the alcohol content Petal. I have one more bottle to use up and then I’m done. I’m switching to Mizon AHA 8% Peeling Serum instead.

I’ve bought a few bottles of Liquid Gold over the last few years. I haven’t used it consistently because I don’t like how much alcohol it contains, plus I’m always trying other exfoliants. Recently a small patch of freckles (light pigmentation) appeared on my face. I haven’t yet seen a reduction in them by using Liquid Gold.

For me, Liquid Gold is just a great exfoliating product. When I use it, I see a greyish residue on the cotton makeup remover pads. I haven’t seen a reduction in fine lines or wrinkles by using it. Perhaps if I used the product consistently, I’d see more benefits.

Although my skin is dry, Liquid Gold doesn’t dry my skin out, despite its alcohol content. Sometimes I use Liquid Gold without applying another product afterwards. Sometimes I follow up Liquid Gold with something like rosehip oil.

Once I’ve used up my current bottle of Liquid Gold, I will try The Ordinary’s glycolic acid.
