Sorted: your summer beauty shopping list

OK, beauties. Let’s make a pact now. One that states we will not get sunburnt this spring or summer. Not even once. We’re also going to promise that we’ll ditch streaky tan lines and limp locks by putting in a tad more effort into our beauty routine. We’re also going to attack those problem areas that we’re a little self conscious of (hello, dimply thighs), and as a result, spend the warmer months in a dazzling haze of fun without any thoughts of being self-conscious.

You in? Brilliant. Then pop goodies like these on your shopping list, because they are the absolute gems that will help you stick to the pact you just promised not to break…

I can talk about the benefits of sunscreen until I’m blue in the face, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to this: if you want to age faster than you naturally would, don’t apply sunscreen. If you want to look fresh and healthy for as long as you naturally can, apply an SPF 30+ sunscreen every single day. Too lazy to do so? Utilise super-smart products like Cancer Council Day Wear Plus Tint(available in Light and Medium), which offers the benefits of a sunscreen, sheer make-up and moisturiser in one. Yep, you’ve got no excuses now. Just make sure you also pop on a replenishing cream like Derma e Vitamin E Moisturising Crème in the evening to help combat any dryness. This cream is (obviously!) enriched with vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant when it comes to protecting your skin against ageing.

Your hair cops a lot of flack in summer (read: sun, chlorine, salt water and heat styling), so do your strands a favour and look after them. You should be employing sun-protecting products like Wella Professionals SP Sun UV Spray to give your locks a good dose of UVA and UVB protection, as well as using nourishing hair masks twice a week in place of your usual conditioner. And while you’re at it, stock up on dry shampoo. Using something like TONI&GUY Dry Shampoo every second day means you’ll need to wash your hair less, effectively leaving your natural oils to nourish your scalp. Oh, and if you’re going to opt for summer’s must-have ‘do – beachy, textured strands – you MUST use a heat protector spray before you dare to even reach for your curling tong. Using a strand-loving tool like the VS Sassoon Ultimate 32mm Nano Curling Tong, which features ceramic heating technology, is also smart when it comes to maintaining healthy hair.

If the thought of donning short shorts or a bathing suit scares the (insert naughty word here) out of you, you’re not alone. But, before you crawl into a hole and hide away all summer long, listen up: while it is difficult to get rid of cellulite entirely, it is possible to reduce it. By stimulating your skin’s cells through massage and choosing smart, targeted ingredients, you can make a difference to your orange peel-esque skin. You’ve got to be committed, though. Laziness will get you nowhere. We suggest you try Guinot Double Slimming Treatment. Also, it’s smart to invest in some fake tanning time each week. Do so and you’ll not only make your dimples disappear temporarily, you’ll look thinner and healthier, and feel sexier. You’ll love it. We adore Bloom Body Tanning Mousse for it’s streak-free, natural finish.

It’s no secret that bold, colourful nails are the way to go in summer. So hide those dark, moody nail hues away and embrace this season’s hottest colour – neon. No matter what colour variation you opt for (read: bright orange, yellows and pink), there’s a hue in this vivid colour palette for everyone. Try: endota spa nail paint in surfers paradise.

What products are on your beauty shopping list this summer? Will you be buying any of these? Are you going to promise to stick to a solid beauty routine this summer like me?
