All about male grooming

When it comes to primping and preening, are the men in your life a little out of their depths? Or just lazy? Are they happy to wash their face, hair and – cringe! –body with the same old bar of soap?
Well, ladies, it’s time for you to step in and help those gents to shake up their routines. By adding a few products to their routines, they’ll not only save time, but also pain (shaving rash, anyone?) and end up looking and feeling damn fine.
After all, the beauty-conscious man is on the rise, so do your partner/dad/brother/roommate a favour and get them up to speed on all things grooming.*
SKIN CARE
That scungy bar of soap is not doing your man’s skin any good. In fact, it’s probably stripping it of its natural oils, resulting in dehydration and those pimples he’s been complaining about.
Swap it for a refreshing face wash like the L’Oreal Paris Men Expert Pure Power Charcoal Wash, which will whisk away grime, oil and dirt from his pores. Post-shower, he should lock in hydration with a light moisturiser, like the Moosehead Oil Control Moisturiser Face Cream. A weekly scrub is ideal for buffing away dead skin. Try Clinique For Men Face Scrub.
SHAVING
Sporting a fuzz-free face is the most high maintenance beauty task guys are faced with. Since shaving is a daily ritual for most men, easy-to-use products are must-haves. The Lab Series Maximum Comfort Shave Gel is a great buy– it cools the skin before, during and after shaving and reduces redness. For a super smooth shave, treat him to the Gilette Fusion ProGlide with Flexball Technology. Thanks to its pivoting blade, it glides along facial contours easily.
HAIR CARE
As for hair care, it’s a good idea to go back to basics – a hydrating, anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner and a styling wax are essential. He’ll love the refreshing feel of GAIA Made for Men Shampoo and Conditioner, and lush smell of Wen by Chaz Dean Defining Paste.
If he’s not into forking out for a trim every now and then (ahh, men…), then set him up with a simple clipper, like the VS Sassoon VS for Men Men Crew Cut. It’s cord-free and features a comb guide for easy-peasy manoeuvring.
BODY HAIR REMOVAL
That’s right: the modern day man isn’t afraid to remove unwanted hair, whether it’s on their legs, chest or back. Instead of watching him fiddle with wax or a razor, pop a hair removal cream on the bathroom shelf. The Nad’s Moisturising Hair Removal Crème is a good one – it removes hair in just four minutes! Afterwards, he can keep skin soft by slathering on NIVEA Body Rich Nourishing Body Moisturiser.
BODY HYGIENE
Body odour is no one’s friend, so a quality deodorant is crucial. Using a roll-on or spray comes down to personal preference, but we like Rexona Original for Men Aerosol and Mitchum Clinical Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant Sport for keeping sweat and odour at bay. A body wash like the The Body Shop White Musk for Men Hair and Body Wash will help to nix daily dirt, while a spritz of Tommy Hilfiger Tommy will make sure he smells #freshtodeath.

That white must body wash sounds like something I'd like. I would go pretty far for a man in Drakkar Noir too ... OMG!

When we first married 10 years ago, my hubby was the bar of soap for everything guy! But now he actually enjoys using skincare, but his choice is the Bulldog range which he raves about. If he runs out of anything, there's no waiting, he's down at the shops re-purchasing straight away for himself -- which I don't even do for me. LOL.

My man is that one that loves using the bar of soap for everything. He does however, now use my shampoo, but that is as far as I can take him, thus far.

Step 1: Find a man I want to keep around Step 2: Encourage him to take care of his skin by buying him nice products.

I feel like I am constantly trying to get my boyfriend to try the latest grooming gadget - even basics like using a cleanser can be trying, but I'm getting there! I think it's great to see so many skincare brands paying particular attention to male grooming products. It's such a new phenomenon.

My husband is so basic - he shaves, shampoos, and washes. And wears deodorant. That's it!

My husband keeps himself clean, but that's pretty much it when it comes to grooming. I've tried to encourage him to look after his skin, but I'm fighting a losing battle. He reckons that skincare etc is for girls.
