Complexion cure

Complexion cure

My friend has always suffered from sensitive skin, and I mean really sensitive skin. She has the type of complexion that’s never just calm and normal (something I think a lot of us take for granted).

If it’s not dry and flaky, it’s red and itchy. It flames at the tiniest exposure to sun and is likely to break out into a rash if you even wave a fragranced product near her. And don’t even get me started on what happens when she tries to wear make-up…

Being the beauty junkie I am, my heart broke at the thought of this gorgeous girl wandering through life unable to experience the pleasures of achieving soft, glowing skin, or the sheer delight of finding a fab new illuminator or perfectly peach cream blush. And so I made it my mission to save her skin.

Now if you think this was an easy task you’re very much mistaken. I tried, and failed, and tried again many a time over in the last few years, and there were more than a few tears shed (mostly mine out of sheer frustration). But it seems that perseverance really does pay off because it looks like I’ve finally struck gold – or just calm, clear skin!

So what finally whipped this sensitive skin into submission? Well so far it looks like her complexion takes really well to the soap-free, fragrance-free, colour-free, everything-else-irritating-free QV Face Gentle Cleanser, Moisturising Day Cream and Nurturing Night Cream (we’re yet to try an exfoliator – don’t want to push our luck too far just yet!). Her face is no longer flaky, the redness is subsiding and I’m definitely starting to notice a hint of radiance creeping into her complexion.

In terms of make-up, Inika Mineral Cosmetics is working a treat. Its Certified Organic Liquid Mineral Foundation is pretty close to changing her life. Or at least her skin! I put it down to the fact that the range is all-natural and again, free from any chemicals, fragrances, artificial colourants and a whole lot of other things that cause sensitive complexions to complain.
