Gwyneth Paltrow's punishing skincare routine

She may look a lot younger than her 41 years, but Gwyneth Paltrow’s youthful glow doesn’t come easy.
While the actress is known for her all-natural lifestyle, she takes a less holistic approach to her beauty routine, admitting her flawless complexion is the result of extreme facials that simulate being slapped.
She describes the painful Thermage laser treatment as feeling like being “smacked with a rubber band that has an electric shock in it.” But it’s all good – “it works”.
Also known as the ‘face ironing treatment’, the punishing facial helps to tighten and smooth the top layer of skin by boosting collagen levels in the lower layers.
I don’t know about you guys, but if that’s what’s required to score a complexion like Gwyneth’s, I’ll pass.
When it comes to beauty, are you a devotee of “no pain, no gain”? Do you have any less extreme tips for getting youthful-looking skin?

I'll be very happy to pass on anything that inflicts pain and suffering.

Gwynn has always been at the forefront of unusual or alternative treatments... remember cupping?? She looks fabulous though so her routine obviously works!

I'm kind of interested to know what else this treatment entails, it sounds strange and painful! I like my facials to be relaxing, thank you.

I think she does look around 40 - a good 40, but not amazingly younger than her years. I'd be curious about the price of the treatment.

I'll pass too. Sounds too extreme and is it really worth it.

Thermage is really expensive! about $3K. It's always good to read reviews on various cosmetic procedure websites before going ahead with something like that. That said I'm her age and her facial contours look a lot better than mine. I've had IPL facials and the pain is similar (feels like someone is wacking a rubber band against your face) but the procedure is nowhere near as risky. Unfortunately the results were unimpressive and I wouldn't do it again. I've achieved better results with daily facial exercises.

My tip is whole food plant based diet, mostly raw fruit based. It does miracles to me, nearing 40, looking like mid 20s!

Ageing can be just as beautiful as youth, why go through all that pain? It's really not worth it in my opinion!

To be honest, the pic that goes along with this article looks like a woman about 37+. Attractive yes, but not that much younger. Stick to a good face cream I say, it's probably cheaper and feels better than laser.
