In news that should truly shock no one, Patrick Dempsey, (AKA McDreamy, AKA a man with a near-perfect complexion) follows a somewhat disciplined skin care regimen. During a recent interview, Patrick detailed his impressive grooming routine; and let it be said that there is something seriously attractive about a man who takes pride in his appearance. Although what did we expect from the husband of celebrity makeup artist and founder of a successful unisex beauty line, Jillian Dempsey?
“I was never aware of what to use until she gave me products,” he told People. “The older I get, I see the impact of what a proper routine has to offer and what works. It is easy for me to do, since I like to get out the door fast but look presentable.”
What does his skin care routine look like?
Well, according to Patrick, “it varies”. “I go see my facialist to maintain and keep my skin clean and hydrated,” he said.
And when he’s at home, “I will use a little moisturiser, I like what Jill gives me. I definitely use my wife’s Eye Masks and her Gold Bar multiple times during the week for my overall general maintenance,” he explained. For those unfamiliar with the Gold Bar ($292, MECCA), it’s a vibrational device which works to lift, contour and depuff tired skin. As for the Eye Masks ($75, Jillian Dempsey), they’re individually soaked in a prebiotic serum to offer deep hydration and protection to the delicate under-eye skin.
In terms of makeup?
With the exception of one product, he’s not a huge fan. “I do not like to wear makeup, even when I’m on set,” he said.
“[It] creates a lot of wear and tear on your skin,” he explained, spoken like the true partner of a beauty professional. On occasion however, Patrick relies on Jillian’s Spot Stick Concealer ($32, Jillian Dempsey) “in the shade 08 if I’m tanned” to even out his complexion. “If I am doing a photoshoot or hopping on a Zoom, [it’s] a fast way to cover up little imperfections like pimples, redness, blemishes or my under-eyes.”
He’s even got his method of application down to a fine art. According to Patrick, when pairing the matte concealer with a moisturiser, you “help the product look smooth and undetectable.” Well, there you have it. We’ve just learnt our new under-eye blending technique from McDreamy.
While this might be the most in-depth male celebrity beauty routine we’ve reported on, Patrick insists that keeping it simple is key. Or in his exact words, “whatever will get me out the door in the most efficient manner.”

I also dislike makeup, but wear bare minimum at work. Lippy and mascara, they do not take toll on the skin. And a touch of foundation, almost none

The gold bar works insofar that it’s metal and cooling to puffy eyes but you may as well use cold teaspoons in that area and it will do the same job.
