Still chic this week

Still chic this week

This beauty editor gig isn’t all glamour. Example: the other day, I got an email offering me a lust-worthy designer loaner to wear to the MTV Awards. But sigh. I had to write back that I actually wasn’t invited.

So it’s not like I’ve been sharing lip gloss with Mischa Barton lately. But there’s no complaining. Some particularly gorgeous overseas standouts have still crossed my desk this week.

Here are a few of my most-loved…

It was tough to call, but my favourite skincare find of the week is from divine all-natural NZ brand Living Nature. Dripping with protective shea butter, hydrating manuka honey and antioxidant extracts from the totara tree, the Rich Day Cream gets parched skin through a wet, windy week feeling soothed and incredibly soft. It’s greenie-pleasingly free of parabens and synthetic preservatives too.

I also fell in love with French make-up artist Serge Louis Alvarez. Using decades of behind-the-brush experience as a blue print, he has created a 450-strong line of pro-style cosmetics that must be explored completely. So far, I’m hooked on the SLA 5 Precious Shadow Palette of silk-feel matte and pearlised powders and the brushes, which are all so ingeniously crafted they practically do the sculpting and shading for you. A-mazing.

But some of the most exciting news of the week beamed in from New York just this morning. Make-up guru of gurus Gucci Westman has just signed on with Revlon. The go-to glam-maker for top order A-listers, the fashion elite’s favourite and ex-artistic director at Lancome, Gucci doesn’t follow trends, she makes them and will now be consulting on new products and colour lines for Revlon. The upshot: your staple brand is about to get seriously sexy. We’ll let you know the nanosecond Gucci’s shades are due on shelves. Or maybe you should just start queuing now…

Have a gorgeous long weekend,

So that’s what’s rocking my beauty bag this week. What’s your favourite new find?
