Rosehip Oil

Is anyone here a rosehip oil fan? I’m keen to give this wonder oil a go, but there are so many brands out there. Any recommendation on which brand and how do you use it? Any advice is welcome.

My mature aged skin loves rose hip oil any time of the year, sometimes on its own. Sukin is on my fav list so far.

I have dry and sensitive skin and tried Kora Organics Rosehip oil which unfortunately made me break out so I didn’t try Rosehip again for a few years because I was nervous. But then I started using Biologi’s serums which I loooved and tried their Rosehip oil which has honestly been a game changer for my skin. I use it under my makeup and at night before bed and my skin is glowing the next day.

I mentioned rosehip oil from a brand called Pai before, but I’ve just realised that some people may not have heard of this brand:

    https://www.nourishedlife.com.au/organic-facial-serums/16596/pai-bioregenerate-rosehip-oil.html

Nourished Life has this description about the product: “Pai uses volcanically sourced CO2 to gently extract the oil while preserving the complete properties of the plant by not cold pressing. This results in a unique, concentrated “fruit” oil with twice the regenerative sterols and five times the carotenoids of the more regularly used seed oil.”

Whoa! Now, that is one DARK rho!

I just checked out that link. It`s not a pure rho. Here are the ingredients: Rosa Canina (Rosehip CO2) Seed Extract*, Rosa Canina (Rosehip CO2) Fruit Extract*, Mixed Tocopherols (Natural Vitamin E), Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract*
*Certified Organic by the Soil Association (Organically produced 99.8% of product).

Their are different botanical types as well. I don’t really like Rosa Canina Some of my more preferred brands use Rosa Englanteria

Yes. Another fan of RHO here.

In my mind there are 3 main types:

Cold press – this is most affordable but the process generates heat (despite the name), so some nutrient is lost in the process. My fav is Sukin.

CO2 extraction (alao called supercritical) – this is more pricey but RHO is of better quality. My fav is Kosmea.

Blend – this is a RHO blend as opposed to pure RHO. Depending on the formulation they suit different people – I found blends often make them take a little longer to absorb. My fav is Antipodes Divine Face Oil.

    Hope this helps.

Ooh yes I’ve been using it for 20 years and have hardly any pigmentation or fine lines. The darker orange the formula the better. The colour comes from lycopene, the pigment that make tomatoes red. It is an amazing antioxidant and anti aging. I use Trilogy and A’kin.

Have used Trilogy and Sukin before mainly use it on my body especially in winter, great for dry skin.

I mainly use it to massage the skin on my face and it works perfectly for that – absorbs really easily and always leaves my skin looking glowing.

I’m following this as a reminder next time as a few good recommendations. Thanks for the post Raksha!

My dry skin loves rosehip oil. I have tried most of the popular brands. One brand hasn’t provided a better result compared to another. I prefer rosehip oil that has a deeper colour as it has more nutrients from brands such as Kosmea and Pai (from Nourished Life). I still buy other brands of rosehip oil when they’re on sale.

The only brand that I wasn’t impressed with was the one from Blessed by Nature because it has a very pale colour (indicating less nutrients). This oil might be more suitable for someone with oily/combination skin because it seemed to have a lighter consistency and it absorbed a bit more quickly.

I usually use rosehip oil on its own, but sometimes I use it with a moisturiser that doesn’t feel nourishing enough.
