Lauren Hutton’s 5 Affordable Beauty Tips And The Viral TikTok Lipstick You’ll Find In Her Handbag

She’s one of the original supermodels. Lauren Hutton’s iconic gap-tooth and work as a brand ambassador for Revlon have made her one of the most-recognised faces of all time. However, in a shock departure, Lauren’s history-making million-dollar deal with the beauty brand came to an abrupt end as Lauren reached her 41st birthday. The not-so-mutual split came after Lauren was told “women over 40 don’t wear makeup.” Sorry, what now?

“Well, I was over 40, and all the women I knew all used makeup,” she told The Cut. And ever since, Lauren has been loudly and proudly campaigning against ageism. Particularly in calling for a greater presence of older models.

And brands are listening. At 76, Lauren was announced as the face of cosmetics brand StriVectin. A partnership which introduced Lauren to the popular wrinkle-softening ingredient: retinol. In particular, the S.T.A.R Night Oil ($131.99, Chemist Warehouse), which she reveals has made a “huge difference” to her complexion.

Lauren’s 5 affordable beauty tips…

Do you have a notepad at the ready? According to Lauren, the secret to maintaining a radiant glow isn’t at the bottom of a serum bottle. In fact, unlike most celebrity beauty tips, hers are all incredibly affordable. The model reveals the secret to her enviable complexion comes down to drinking lots of water (eight glasses a day to be exact), getting a good night’s sleep, laughing, being in nature and most importantly: “don’t give up sex”.

Lauren’s attitude toward ageing…

But beauty tips aside, Lauren wants more for the future of the modelling industry than just wrinkle-free faces; “If my life could stand for one thing, it would be to change the way women feel about getting older”.

The supermodel has already positioned herself as the go-to mentor for her younger peers, saying, “I feel a bit like a fantastic granny to all the gap-toothed models today”. But she’s not ready to hand over the baton just yet, admitting “I hope to do modelling until I am 100”.

The lipstick you’ll always find at the bottom of Lauren’s handbag…

If you’re an avid TikTok user, you definitely would’ve stumbled across CLINIQUE’s Almost Lipstick SPF 15 in the shade Black Honey ($41, Clinique). The universally flattering ‘your lips but better’ shade has been a sell-out since its release over three decades ago. And according to Lauren’s recent interview with Byrdie, she counts herself as one of the lipstick’s many loyal fans.

  1. Laura Hutton is an inspiration to all Women, she made it possible for models with a gap in their teeth to do modelling. Ashley Smith, Georgia May Jagger, Lara Stone, Jessica Hart, Lindsey Wixson, and Abby Lee Kershaw to name a few.

  2. Ageism is certainly alive & well and has been for quite a while. It’s not just makeup companies either. It really sh*ts me when Companies put people into pigeon holes. “women over 40 don’t wear makeup”. Huh! Most of us have been wearing it since we were teenagers so why would be suddenly give it up at age 40? I would have thought that women over 40 would have more disposable income to buy products to enhance their looks.

  3. What a great attitude she has! Good on her & good on StriVectin!

I drink buckets of water & tea: every time I have a facial, they comment about how hydrated my 54-year-old skin is, so drink up, everyone!

  4. It really is all about the attitude. Some people no matter how old they are they seem incredibly youthful in the way they talk and laugh and carry themselves. Nothing to do with their looks.

  5. I love that Lauren says “most, importantly “Don’t give up sex.” LOL !!! because I do feel that keeping sexually active, plays a big part in how a woman thinks and feels about herself especially after menopause.
