Balms are back to save your skin

My approach to balms is a little like Toula’s dad’s stance on Windex in My Big Fat Greek Wedding: apply it to anything – anything, at all – for instant relief. Got a rash? Balm. Puffy eyes? Balm. Dealing with a breakup? Balm. The infatuation (aka obsession) started early – my mum would layer papaw ointment onto any injury, ailment or issue, and hence the balm dependency was born. As far as habits go, it’s not too bad, as unlike Windex, balms are actually a legitimate multipurpose must-have whose powers extend far beyond just lip care. After all, if your skin is dehydrated, dull and distressed like mine (lucky us, right?), you’ll often need something more nourishing than a lightweight lotion. Think of balms as heartier, more concentrated, solid forms of your favourite ingredients, ready to break down and get to work once massaged into the skin. And, unlike lots of liquid formulas, they also generally don’t contain any water, so a little goes a long way, meaning you’re always getting more bang for your (balm) buck. Ready to build your balm wardrobe? We’ve found our favourites for everything; balms leave no skin issue or body part behind. Trust us; these products are actually the balm.

Body

The word “everything” is in the name for a reason. Use it in the classic sense to soothe dry or chapped skin, or try out its many uses by applying to lips, rubbing into dry cuticles, or even using as a melting massage oil – it’s a serious desert island product.
Face: Cleansing

Nutrimetics Nutri-Rich Cleansing Balm
Melt your makeup away at the end of the day with this clever cleansing balm. Enriched with ultra-nourishing apricot, the gentle gel-to-balm formula will cleanse skin of any impurities and leave your complexion feeling clear, soft and supple.
Face: Soothing

Bellamer Botanical Skin Care Soothing Balm
A balm with a butter and oil base, this is your ultimate sensitivity soother. With healing Shea butter, and a calming blend of Chamomile, Peppermint and Jojoba oils, it works to strengthen your skin whilst reducing redness and discomfort.
Face: Hydrating

Tarte Cosmic Maracuja Concentrated Face Balm ($60, Sephora.com.au)
With this brilliant balm you can literally watch moisture melt into your face – it’s perfect for pampering parched skin. Formulated with maracuja, it’s rich in the essential fatty acids that are vital to your skin health, and the luxe gold flakes don’t hurt one bit.
Face: Illuminating

Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm
Rather than packing highlighter onto dry, flaky skin (not the best look), try illuminating from the inside out. This boosting balm imparts an instant glow thanks to its pearl particles – it’s like you’ve flicked an internal light switch on your face.
Face: Plumping

Dior Hydra Life Extra Plump Smooth Balm Mask ($98, Sephora.com.au)
Let this balm add bounce back into your skin. Infused with white pine oil and a complexion-boosting cocktail of jojoba, glycerine and shea butter, it’ll enhance elasticity, refine texture and leave skin plump, smooth and firm.
Eyes

First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy Overnight Balm ($60, Sephora.com.au)
A heartier formula is amazing for the thinner skin around your eyes. This overnight eye balm pairs hydrating sunflower seed wax and shea butter with a blend of actives such as algae extract and niacinamide to hit your eye area with a brightening, smoothing, line-fighting combo.
Lips

Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm ($28, mecca.com.au)
Whoever thought lip balm formulas were all created equal never met this one. Drunk Elephant have rounded up the pout-protecting dream team to leave lips hydrated (with avocado, cranberry and marula oils), restored (thanks to collagen-boosting peptides) and refreshed (we see you, Vitamin C).
Hands

Sephora Collection Hand Balm ($9, Sephora.com.au)
Get some balm on those palms, stat. Enriched with moisturising oils and waxes, these balms are ideal for keeping your hands healthy and hydrated through the winter weather. At under $10 they’re super affordable, and they come in a bunch of sweet scents – we love this romantic rose.
Feet

Put your best foot forward every time with this fantastic foot balm. Say hello to heavenly heels and soft soles thanks to kaolin clay and olive oil, amazing for nourishing the skin that is so often neglected. Plus, with its fresh fragrance of lavender and rosemary, your feet will never have smelled sweeter.

Best ever treatment for lips and this is but 1 of the 101 uses. It's a super dense lanolin balm that penetrates and seals in moisture and I can't believe it's not mentioned!

Regular buyer for a long time.
Im stuck buying this product literally. I used it when my children were babies and now there a bit older and understand they no bath, cream, then bed. No cream = no bed for 3 very angry toddlers.
Smooth cream that doesn’t feel too heavy
This moisturiser has a lovely smooth texture and glides onto my skin beautifully. I found it left my skin feeling soft and supple and it also wears well under makeup.
Goodness in a Jar
After more than a week of using Pro X by Olay Anti Aging Wrinkle Smoothing Cream I can really say that the I ❤️ the product;
