XERACALM A.D. LIPID-REPLENISHING BALM Reviews

This balm was a godsend for Melbourne's winter weather. With only a very faint smell, this is perfect for sensitive skin.
I have sensitive, dry and flaky skin with occasional eczema which flares up in Winter. I used this balm once and instantly could notice my dry skin transforming. I love the way it doesn't take too long to absorb into the skin. An added bonus is that the product has no preservatives, which has my sensitive skin jumping for joy
The pump bottle provides a hygienic, controlled application via a nozzle which pushes out the product quite finely. I found that I didn't to use a lot of product to cover my whole body.
I have always loved Avene products and again was not left disappointed with the performance of this product.
Overall, I do believe that this balm is definitely a winner for winter days and will be repurchasing once I run out!

I have eczema prone itchy, dry, flaky skin on my body and the cold, winter months are especially hard on my skin. I trialed the Xeracalm balm for about a week and am really liking it. I apply it to areas of my body that is most prone to itchy dry skin after my showers. Those areas include my hips, outer thighs, legs, lower back and elbow areas. I also apply it to an area when it is itchy as a 'spot treatment'.

The balm has a fresh 'unscented scent' with a rich, balmy consistency that is easily spreadable. It does take its time to absorb and creates a moisture barrier film on my skin that I can still feel on my skin hours later. When I spot treat, at times it reliefs the itch right away and at other times, it takes a bit of time (around 30 mins) for the balm to relief the itch. My skin does feel hydrated and calmer overall when I apply this balm.

I think this is a less harsh alternative for itchy, dry eczema prone skin if you're worried about applying prescription steriod often. Its hydrating and calming to my sensitive skin and I'm currently enjoying a less itchy winter.

This could not have come at a better time to review, Melbourne winter has well and truly set in. I have very dry skin that gets very irritated during the changing seasons, but especially in the winter months. I get dry, flaky, itchy and red skin, that is also prone to cracking. I currently have 4 different body moisturisers on my dresser, all promising to deeply hydrate my skin. But every winter it's the same broken promise. Until Avene XeraCalm arrived in my mailbox a little over a week ago. And I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting much, but holy moly I was wrong!
First impressions, this unassuming off white bottle was HEAVY, there is some thicc cream in this baby! I like the packaging, simple but well designed for the product. Soft, squeezy bottle with a pump top. The nozzle is quite fine so you can really control how much product you pump out. And it feels good quality, however it doesn't lock but it does come with a lid for traveling.
The cream doesn't have a scent at all, literally smells of nothing. Which is great for sensitive skin.
The cream is thick and silky and absorbs beautifully into the skin, but keeps your skin hydrated allllll day . It's quite emollient, as to be expected from a balm. I have noticed you can feel this washing off in the shower at the end of the day, so it definitely protects for hours and hours.
Using XeraCalm every day I have noticed my skin hasn't been flaky or itchy, and I don't have my usual scaly winter shins. It also calmed a eczema / dermatitis patch I have on my neck. I am super SUPER impressed with this balm. It's also great as a facial moisturiser or even as a primer. I will definitely be buying this when it runs out.

I found this balm excellent for supporting my eczema flare ups. It has also helped speed up the healing of a rash I recently received. This is a very heavy balm that I would not recommend to someone with normal to oily skin as this will feel too much. The balm doesn't spread as easily as I would have liked but apart from that it is also excellent for girls doing their tanning prep the day before where the elbow and knees need extra love.
I have also used it by mixing it with light oils in the dry areas of my face like my forehead together with recovering areas that I was too over zealous with i.e. over exfoliation via harsh acne creams. Finally, my heels have been transformed by just a few days of ongoing application! This balm has so many uses that it will be a staple in my house going forward.

The packaging for this product is amazing, I love how hygienic it is and also how small of an amount comes out. It's the first time I'm using this type of bottle. It comes in a white bottle with pump that is easy to control and store. The balm itself is white, easy to spread, and not overtly heavy.
I've used Avene Xeracalm A.D Lipid Replenshing Balm in the morning and night, and both work well for me. I feel like this formula is even better than it was years ago, and it's been a while since I have used this. If you have dry skin, dry patches or parched sensitve skin, this will bring your skin back to normal and heal your skin in a night to a few days. I think it's the best to use at night to start with as it is a balm. It's not irritatating at all and it's something I use when I feel my skin is too dry or gets to sensitve. There have been times where this has completely healed my skin overnight and restored my moisture barrier. It also does not feel oily at all. When I use this in the morning, sometimes I use a different moisturiser under it, and use a small amount of this on top, just for my cheeks. It's also fragrance free but has a pleasant non-irritating smell. I also use this after exfoliating, and my skin is soft and supple the next day! A calming balm I would highly recommend, without a doubt, one of the best skincare products.

Thanks BH for allowing me to be a part of the trial team. This came at the perfect time as I had a couple of dry, red patches on my face. I could only use cetaphil to avoid it getting worse but it also wasn’t getting better so I was excited to get my hands on the Avene xeracalm balm to try. I love the big bottle, I love the sterile, airless packaging, fragrance free, preservative free, baby friendly, tick tick tick. It reminds me very much of LRP lipikar baume but lighter so it really works for the face too. I wish that I could have tried it with cleansing oil to see the best results from the xeracalm range.
I would describe the product as a thick cream that’s really easy to apply and absorb into the skin. There is not discomfort, sticky residue or greasy feeling. I use a light layer in the morning followed by tinted sunscreen. It’s also a great primer under makeup. At night I like to apply a larger amount so it’s a slightly thicker layer on my face to really let it do it’s magic overnight. My dry, red patches didn’t go away immediately but they did after a few days of morning and night use and I will even spot treat now on my cheeks and eyelids when I feel like they’re started to be irritated by a fragrance or some other ingredient in a product I’m using.
Now that it’s winter and extra dry, I also use it all over on my 2 year old who’s ezcema prone. It won’t cure any current patches of ezcema but it keeps his skin generally nice, moisturised and happy.

I have been using Eau Thermale Avène XeraCalm A.D Lipid Replenishing Balm since I was selected as part of the trial team. Thank you Beautyheaven, this is the best moisturizer I have ever used.

I suffer from dermatitis, the skin on my legs becomes very dry and itchy in winter, it gets so itchy sometimes I can't sleep at night and I have to use steroid cream. I started using this cream about 10 days ago. It goes on a bit thick, no scent and it blends in well to the skin. It is rich and absorbing and not greasy at all. It is a beautiful cream and my skin feels just wonderful and looks wonderful after using it, fine dry lines seem to disappear. I put on the itchy spots twice a day, the itchiness is gone after 10 minutes, I use this cream religiously now, I have found if I use it twice a day, my legs are good all day, no itchiness at all, I no longer need to use any steroid cream!!!

This is hands down, the absolute best moisturizer I have ever used. I cannot stress enough how wonderful this product is. This is exactly what I needed. Finally a moisturizer that saves me from itchy skin. Thank you thank you thank you!

Last night’s dinner conversation:

Me: “Oh, I need to complete the review for the cream I’ve been trialling.
Husband: “Oh yeah, better get that done”
Me: “You know, this cream is amaaaaazing”
Husband: “yeah?”
Me: “Yes, really, I used it on that dry, itchy rashy area I get (it’s an autoimmune issue I have near a surgery site), and no joke, it was gone after two uses, and my elbows are super smooth!”.

I love this brand, not that I’ve used much of it, it’s a little out of my price range normally so I was excited to try this balm! The packaging is very much on brand and like all the Avéne products, really clean and pretty. The balm is in a tall, quite large pump bottle. I found the pump really difficult to get working and actually thought it wasn’t going to work, persistence paid off. When using the balm, I also found you have to be careful using the pump as the cream often shot straight over my hand and onto me or the floor.

The balm is like a thick cream and it’s quite thick and oily in consistency, however it spreads really nicely and you really do only need a little bit for a large area. It’s too greasy for hands although really very nice for dry upper hands, you can just wipe the excess oil off your palms. It has no odour, smells like nothing, in fact it has 0% Preservatives, 0% Fragrance, 0% Parabens which is perfect for me, as I can sometimes pick up a heavy headache with fragrances. And not only that, it makes it really kind to the skin.

I suffer from very dry and itchy areas of skin with dermatitis type areas and this cream has been incredible for me, I’ve only needed a tiny bit, a couple of times and my skin has not been itchy or dry in those areas since! I haven’t even needed to apply it every day! Seriously a couple of times a week is enough and I live in a really dry climate. I haven’t tried it on my face, I think it might make me break-out a bit, it’s quite heavy and greasy for the face, having said that, if I had dry flaky skin on my face, I would absolutely try it there.

All in all, my experience with this balm has been overwhelmingly positive. I would buy it for myself in the future, I haven’t actually had this non-irritated smooth skin in the middle of winter for a long time and absolutely no sign of dermatitis in my inflamed area. Tick tick tick!

As the name suggests, this is a replenishing balm that is highly moisturising and feels nice on my sensitive skin. I'm not sure if I could use it in the summer as it is quite heavy, however my skin is prone to dryness and eczema so this is nice for the winter. I will say that I find moisturisers woth colloidal oatmeal tend to reduce skin itchiness more than this one did, but overall I would recommend this product if you have sensitive or dry skin.
I'm not a massive fan of the pump in the packaging. Because it's such a thick product and the nozzle is quite small it is a little hard to squirt out. I also don't like how the plastic label ripps off easily when you open the product.
The moisturiser doesn't have much of a scent, just pleasantly soft.
I recommend using this product in the evening so that it can absorb into your skin and leave it feeling hydrated for the next day.
