To date, more than eighty percent of our ocean is unexplored and undiscovered. Luckily for your skin, what we have discovered from the twenty percent we’ve explored is that marine skincare has some amazing beauty benefits. Aquatic ingredients such as seaweed, algae and kelp are rich in the vitamins, minerals, proteins and essential fatty acids that our complexions crave, and they’re our new skincare sea-cret weapons. Whether you’re looking to protect against pollution, ditch dark circles or rapidly reduce redness, these under the sea ingredients are here to over deliver. Let’s dive in.

Seaweed: The Youth Restorer
Seaweed isn’t just for sushi; it’s also amazing for your skin. If you’re hoping to hold onto your youthful glow as long as possible, seaweed is the ocean ingredient to try. Packed with minerals such as magnesium, iodine and calcium, plus vitamins A, B, C, D & E, it’s the ultimate anti-ageing, skin-healing hero, able to enhance elasticity and promote tissue regeneration activities in your complexion. Seaweed is also super soothing, as it contains alginates, acids that lock in hydration whilst soothing dryness, psoriasis and eczema inflammation. You may wish it were banished from your beach days, but when it comes to skincare, seaweed is a serious superstar.
Algae: The Hydrating Protector
Ever counted Ariel or Aquamarine among your sources of skin-spiration? We feel you. Turns out, they had an aquatic advantage the whole time, as mermaids have constant access to the ultimate marine moisturiser – algae. A high-performance hydrator that helps to improve skin’s barrier function, algae is ace for helping your complexion to retain water, whilst also brightening hyperpigmentation. Plus, let’s not forget algae’s antioxidant properties, able to neutralise pollution particles to keep your skin youthful and clear. So, if you’re stuck in the city and wishing you were by the ocean, algae will protect against pollution whilst also harnessing its scent to transport your senses straight to the sea.
Kelp: The Blemish Banisher
Dealing with pesky breakouts? Kelp is on its way. Containing minerals that remove toxins from the skin, sea kelp actually works to eliminate the impurities that can lead to acne, keeping your skin smooth and blemish-free. It’s also packed with anti-inflammatory properties, allowing it to reduce the redness around any existing acne, leaving your complexion as clear and calm as the ocean on a dreamy day. As if that weren’t enough, kelp is also great for lifting and firming around the delicate eye area, able to visibly brighten dark under eye circles and leave you looking so radiantly refreshed you could almost convince yourself you’d actually spent the day sunning yourself seaside.
Already use a seaweed PH balanced shower soap that works really well on my skin.
Such great products to try as well.
Oh wow I definitely want to try kelp for my skin
$665 for the La Mer is just crazy. I look after my skin, and I buy quality skin care products, but I certainly couldn’t justify that. But I would really love to go for a swim where the model in the photo is. It looks beautiful.
oooh, nori sheet masking! Now that is cool xD
love eating seaweed! yummo! great for your skin, hair and body, just faaab!
Great recommendations
I don't think I've used skincare with marine ingredients before, but sounds lovely for the skin
My daughter's skin noticeably cleared up a lot after swimming at the beach this summer.
It does look lovely doesn’t it? If we don’t buy the La Mer we can probably afford to go there!
I dont think ive ever tried Marine skincare and if I have i certainly dont remember.
Where can you buy kelp and algae to eat?
Wow that is expensive!
The ones you get with sushi or the dried ones with salt?
The salt didn’t dry up her skin?
Would I be able to use the algae from my pool?
OMG La Mer!!! My lotto dream…..
I haven’t tried any of these but I like the sound of the Clinique clay mask!
TBS's seaweed mask is absolutely luxurious.
I’ve used masks with Chlorella and spirulina in them. Some of these goodies sounds amazing!!
I haven't tried any, most of them seem to be beneficial for oily or conjested skin, the de lar mer looks fabulous but just too expensive for me.

Wowwww that La Mer!! I can only dream about that one haha
Funnily enough I’ve just sampled an exfoliator from the brand Thalgo so I recently got full size.
Would like to try the eye serum.
Love the sound of some of these
I've used some brands of marine skincare in the past and found that my skin badly reacted. Too much for my skin I guess.
The La Mer cream would be luxe!
I have not used marine products before, some sound beneficial.
I’ve heard seaweed is the holy grail.
I should try this, products with seaweed or algae in it.
Not many could afford or justify La Mer prices
